plumbing help

Postby gator » Tue Feb 06, 2007 1:09 pm

got a toilette that won't quit running.....it's NOT the flap thing, it's been replaced and the seal is tight....

the water is actually running (from the pipe presumably), and coming out of the lil tube.........hard to explain but i figure someone on here knows what i'm getting at.....

can i do anything, or do i just need to replace the entire apparatus in there?

Pick up on the float and see if that turns off the supply. If it does, replace the float assembly or bend the rod that holds the float down so the tank water picks it up more.

I can be there by 7:00 tonight, and probably have the entire front of your house flooded by 7:15!!!!!

Your welcome!!!!!

had the same problem w/mine there is a foam gasket between the tank and the bowl. Drain your tank and take the two bolts loose and take the tank off. Get a new foam gasket. I don't know why but after so long they break the seal. Should take care off the problem when replaced. reminder: make sure it's the same size to big or to small will make alot of water on the floor!

no dice on the float......just keeps coming out once the float reaches the top...........enough gets in the tank, then it runs down into the bowl.

does it quit when you pick the float all the way up? if not you probably need a new float assembly, if so just adjust the screw on the float

Disconnect the water supply, unbolt it from the floor, and just pee down the hole. Be sure to save the seat off of it in case you need to go #2.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

no, the FLOAT IS NOT THE ISSUE.

it's sliding up and down, when it gets to the top, the water is still coming out of the top of the "float apparatus", through a little rubber tube, into the plastic "pipe" leading to the bowl ---- and it never stops

Just pick up a whole new valve assembly. It will come with the float and everything you need. There pretty cheap and easy to install.

Gator,
Get you one of those pressure switches, it replaces all the float assembly. Very easily installs and about half the cost of having to buy all new assembly. Its about the size of the float ball by itself.

means your float is not cutting off the flow, just buy a whole new toilet, you got the money, plus after your gator your pants story i'm sure it's had a rough life and needs to be retired anyway

HA!!! I had completely forgotten about that...seems as if it prompted ol Roberto to change his word filters on the "other" site so that every time someone wrote the word gator it automatically put $hit in there and vice versa.
