Re: If you had the chance to do it over..
That question could have two answers. If you talking about having the opportunity to go back and start from scratch. I would go and focus on being a vet. it is what I wanted to do but life got in the way. At my age know (37) vet school is not an option. There is not one close and to go I would have to move to make it happen. With two girls that would not be fair to them.
I have spent the last year taking night corses and finished up my Assoc degree last semester (4.0 GPA). From here I have no idea of what I want to do. I did have plans on attending U of Memphis and eventually going to Law school but I was only doing it because my wife and parents thought it would be a good idea. So for the next semester I am going to have to figure that out. One thing is certain, I must finish my bachlors degree no matter what the course of study.....

Re: If you had the chance to do it over..
Some great advice here. I am a youngin (25) but I am married with a 1 year old little boy. I had myself strapped down before I knew what happened. If you have the opportunity, get the heck out of the Delta for a little while and venture out there. See what the world has to offer you. With the economy like it is now, it's the best time to go back to school because good jobs are hard to find. A friend of mine is living in Dallas and he's a good ol' delta boy but he loves Dallas and still has land in quitman county that he visits often. You can always go back to the delta at anytime if you can find something to do. Just take it from me, I REGRET not pursuing some of the opportunities I had outside of Mississippi, but now it's too late. It will be tough to leave now that I have a family and a few mouths to feed. After all, we only live once. GO GO GO

Re: If you had the chance to do it over..
i would have stayed in college for my masters instead of doing it online..... online isnt bad..... but i should have been a ga somewhere and got that experience coaching at the coaching level.... that has killed me the last couple of years.
If it wasn't for bad luck then i would have no luck at all........

I chose the road of sales and didn't get married till i was 38. I have lived from coast to coast and literally hunted everything from coast to coast...............If i would have hung out my shinkle with him at the age of 25 in Indianola....................i'll be honest but never tell him this..it would have been the biggest mistake of my life...I also asked him could i transfer and get Wildlife Fishery Degree....I remeber my Dad, go get a degree you can make some money at and hire a Wildlife and Fishery guy...I haven't yet!!......................My advise .............Get the Hell out of Greenwood.......Long story short........I ended up marrying a Delta girl of all places after living in 8 states in 19 years and we moved back to to MS 5 years ago, for GOOD.....But My friends in Oxford ask me all the time...now who do you know in Anchorage that takes you on the float hunts.......whos that guy in Phoenix you Elk hunt with.......You get to hunt Oceolas every year at your buddys camp on Fishing Eating Creek, Fl..Hey i was even taught how to bowfish by former Bowfishing World Champions from Ga ( Hood and Campbell)............You do not love the Delta one more ounce than i do...........but your young.............GO..........Go..............Go..................you can always come back and nothing would have changed much......but you'll know alot more..

I do just about what most engineers do, just don't have the engineer degree on a wall. I've pondered going back at nights, but that would take upwards of twice as long to complete, 8+ years. I've been thinking of getting some sort of buisness degree online, but I'm happy with what I do and the company I work for takes care of their employees. One bummer is we closed down our shop in Rock Springs, WY so I won't be taking anymore WY trips like I was in the past.
I have a strong belief in education and I was a good push for my wife to go back to school to get her teaching certification. Now she's planning out a path to get her masters. And no matter what you learn, nobody can ever take it away from you.
Trust me on this one. Eight years are gonna come and go....if you want to get your PE, do it.....don't look back 8 years from now and say, man i could be graduating now........do what you're doing, but get what you want, even if it takes a little while...you won't regret it.... you'll only regret not doing it..

Re: If you had the chance to do it over..
I'm not ruling it out and I continue to think that if I had my PE I'd have more headache as I see what our in-house engineers go through every day. My ultimate goal is to be an inspector in the oilfield. The guys that I deal with day in and day out is who I want to me messing with the younger generation. Money isn't everything to me, so me getting a PE to get paid more isn't what I'd want it for.

Yes,get the degree- I wish that I had finished because it can open a lot of doors for you. I have a good job,and to be honest a lot of folks that have degrees don't make what I do. But,I am "welded "to the job,so to speak. because I didn't finish and get that degree,it woould be really difficult to earn this much someplace else. With a degree, it would be a great tool to open doors elsewhere.

Jody you got 2 good friends in Wildlife areas that I know will give you good and accurate advice. I have never had the pleasure of meeting Dan but if he is anything like Tyler and others have said then he is a jam up good guy.I know you have prob already spoken to him but sit down and talk to him and others again and see what they say. You would do great in that field as it truely is somthing thats close to ya heart. Im sure Dan and Tyler still know people up in Gods Country that can and will talk to you and help you with anything you need to help answer the questions you have about it. Prayers sent and Good luck

Had the chance to get a referral to the FBI in 1995 but turned it down when I found out I would have to go through Marine boot camp.

Re: If you had the chance to do it over..
Thank you all for the advice, as I mentioned earlier I have already got a BS in Criminal Justice, just thinking about changing it up though and getting something else. My minor was in Sociology and I loved it but I am not cut out to be a teacher at a university which is where you make the most in that field. I have been to 28 states in my short 23 years of life and while those states were nice to visit, I would not want to live there. If I find the "right" place, dam right I will be there but so far I haven't found it. I understand work is work but I am looking for that thing that I will enjoy getting up every morning for. I have been told my whole life to find something you love and pursue it as a career, I just haven't found what it is yet.
Thanks for the advice and please keep it coming!

I would have become an air force pilot...by now I would have had a military retirement and would be flying a big purple bus loaded with packages.
