Gator Question
Gator Question
My four year old son loves reptiles. All he wants to play with is dinosaurs and dragons and he is obsessed with watching swamp people. Where can I take him to see some gators up close and hold a baby gator?
Re: Gator Question
go to hammond to the swamp people's (dude with overalls that hunts with the dog) alligator farm. That would kill 2 birds with one stone.

Re: Gator Question
Wait for the outdoor extravaganza, the wildlife society usually brings one. They've been set up by the bowfishing booth in the corner the past couple years.
Re: Gator Question
Honey island swamp tours in slidell. He will get to see tons of em up close and get to feed em. I think they have a few lil ones there every year to pet also.
IF YOU POUR IT OUT, THEY WILL COME
Re: Gator Question
I found out in Panama City they have a gator thing. They take you on a air boat through the swamps and see them in the wild.
But at the main house they have their own gator open to the public. You can pet him and everything. Then they have some small ones you can mess with also from what they were telling me. I wanted to go buy when we were in Deston but couldnt make the departure time on the boat so didnt go. Sucks

May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.

Re: Gator Question
Natural Science Museum is a great place to go for all sorts of reptiles. Great people who are very passionate about their work. Look for special events.
Are we gonna get wet?
Re: Gator Question
Not sure where you're located, but my wife and daughter went to Alligator Alley in Summerdale, AL for a field trip today and had a blast. I think we're going to take my son back for his birthday next month. Hope the link works.

Petting an alligator is a bad idea unless it's very tiny and very restrained.

They have a gator farm and tour right here in sunny Pascagoula. Damn things always get over the fence when it floods. I hate them. CHOOT 'EM ELIZABET!

Lewis Grizzard says only Yankees go to reptile farms.
"I ain't never seen no Southerner pay to go inside no reptile farm. Wouldn't be no reptile farms if it wasn't for Yankees. Lucky Joe got $10 a head from Yankees who paid to see him wrastle his dog he painted to look like an alligator."

Re: Gator Question
If you really loved your son you'd take him on a little outdoors adventure and catch one for him. Taking a child to a gator farm to observe/hold one is tantamount to taking him on a tamie shoot for his first duck hunt. You've got to think long-term about what underlying messages your actions convey to your children. Just be thankful that dinos, generally speaking, are extinct.bigoak wrote:My four year old son loves reptiles. Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him.
