Bienville WMA - Permitted - Turkey - 3/14/2011-3/15/2011

Caney Creek WMA - Permitted - Turkey - 3/12/2011-3/13/2011

2nd season turkey hunting, 1st time applying... now if I can just "stumble" upon, or find a mildly "special" tom that thinks my calling is sexy. :D

Pretty pumped about Caney Creek

I bet you do1 You boys coming up to Twin Oaks and Sunflower most likely will wasting a trip! One of the lowest bird counts ever in both places! They should have never opened the season last year. Sure nuff not going to be anything left after this year! Bet there won't be 15 turkeys killed in the whole 66k acres!

That is very true. Does that mean there will be one less Rankin county tag down there those 2 weeks? :D

Naw not on the public land. I used to have a place in Scott county that was covered up in turkeys. It had some public land "close' to it..not even touching it. I spent more time keeping those Arkansas plates out of it. Them hill billies were everywhere. You ever seen public "woods" with a 3OO acre hay field? I wouldnt dare try to hunt up amoungst them in real woods.

I got Upper Sardis for 3/18-3/19. I'm pretty pumped about it since it will be my hunting first trip back at U.S. since I graduated in 2008. I'm in bham now, so I'm planning a mini hunting trip out of it (basically to make it feel like a bigger deal than it actually is haha). It should be cool to hit some of my old spots. I never killed one out there in my 4.5 years at OM, but had some close calls.

Ps, if anybody wants to shoot me some hints or sightings or whatever since I may be out of the loop, that'd be more than appreciated (I'm not holding my breath though  .
