Dog Trainers

Postby Bustin' Ducks » Mon Sep 08, 2003 5:37 pm

Guys I know we've been through this...but once again..Who are the good trainers around...ie. affordability, and the quality finished product,...not looking for a trainer that spends minimal time with the dog...and the one who you see at the hunt tests..hitting and cursing his dogs!!!

Charlie Moody get my vote, my dog, and my money. I get back a fantastic dog and eveything I asked for my money. My dogs are my children and sleep in my bed with me. so I trust Charlie with my kids! I have know Charlie for over 5 years and he has never let me down and I have never heard a bad comment about his business practices.

He can be reached at 662-779-1474

Country Air Kennels
Kokomo, MS

Joel and Tina Soprano.

They're great with retrievers and take them to hunt test every weekend.
They're not cheap, but they're not unreasonable.

I'll vote for my training partner... Steve Vires from Online Labs in Como Ms. You can check out his website at http://www.onlinelabradors.com/

Why not got to a local hunt test yourself? No better way to tell than to see someone run a string of dogs. Old hatchie is in adamsville tn this weekend, and Southern Flight is in Sardis MS next weekend. West Tn is in Millington Tn the following weekend. travis

There are some good trainers in Mississippi. I happpen to know Charlie Moody better than the other trainers. He is an excellent trainer and has the temporament ideal for his craft. His dogs always perform well in hunt tests. For me, that's proof of his results.

I have heard and seen alot of the people mentioned in the above mentioned post. Charlie does a great job with the retrievers he trains. I had Nash with Scot Marcin http://www.deltadreams.com, and IMO he is one of the best. I would not send my dogs to anybody else. No matter who you send your dog to, you are doing the right thing by asking. As far as the cost, you can expect $300.00 to $500.00 just depending on the facilities that the trainer has. Be sure and check out their web sites, ask for references from both satisified and unsatisfied customers and also talk to them about what food they feed. Good luck.

I have to agree with goosebruce; I just got my dog back Saturday before Labor Day from Steve Vires and couldn't be more pleased unless my old hound dog would teach my wife how to cook some supper. Steve did a great job with mine and that is my $.02.

hunt test beaters

Postby dukdawgn » Wed Sep 10, 2003 7:22 pm

the man you seem to have seen cussing and beating his dogs at a hunt test is no longer doing so, I can promise you! he may smack his dog, but it won't be at a hunt test anymore. he'll be banned and lucky to not get arrested...

Steve Vires at Online Labradors gets my vote. He is very honest, straight shooting, and will give you every opportunity to participate in the dogs work. His kennels are the cleanest around, unbreakable to dogs, fully overextended roof system, giant cooling fans, and the best grounds for training in the world.

I just got my pup back yesterday from Charlie Moody and I was impressed what he had done in such a short time. I have also used Mike Stewart with Wildrose Kennels. Mike owns and trains Drake the DU dog and is very well known in the training circles. Both of these guys are very good and you are looking at about $400 per month.

Charlie Moody

Postby RedLeg84 » Thu Sep 18, 2003 7:36 pm

Charlie gets my vote too. I just got my dog back from him and she is doing great. He had her 3 months and had her doing pretty good cold blinds. he is affordable and very patient with the dogs. Great guy also. I would definately suggest Charlie Moody. Whats your name Meganser? Your dog must have been there with ours and you from Jackson seeing if I might know you or your dog? and what is your dogs name?

Charlie Moody gets yet another vote. He took my dog through Sr Title in just 5 short months, and will soon have Master title. First class traing grounds (the entire county plus surrounding area ) and, what most impressed me, utmost dedication and commitment to the responsibility for which he has been entrusted. During the heat of summer he does his yard work under street lights so that he can run the advanced dogs through drills before it gets hot. That's called hard work and dedication, my friends. Try to get up with him on the phone and you'll see that he trains dogs daylight to dark and hunt tests on weekends.
