Diamond Dog food - anyone feed it?

Postby Damn_It_Boy » Thu Oct 23, 2008 8:29 am

No one close carry's any high performance dog food. Bear Creek Feed in Gluckstadt carries Extreme and Diamond. Diamond has Professional (30/20) for $31 bag and Extreme Athlete (32/25) for $ 36 a bag that can be ordered. (40# bags). If anyone is interested let me know as all we have to do is let the store know my noon Friday and we can have the feed by Monday or Tues.

So, anyone feed Diamond? What's the reputation? Seems like an excellent price compared to Euk or Pro Plan......

I have feed it, but not as good as the black gold. I can't get black gold in starkville anymore though.

I feed diamond, extreme to all the dog in my kennel. Coat texture is great, recovery in hot weather is great as well. Been feeding it for about 2 years and have had great success with it.

Thanks Marty........my dog needs some extended fuel! Gonna give it a shot..........

If anyone wants to try it, give Debbie at Bear Creek feed a holler before noon on Friday to order.....601-898-8182

I think I'm going to start ordering two bags at a time........May get a better price if more will use them. Bear Creek Feed is just off the Gluckstadt exit on the east side on Weisenburger Rd.

I fed it for awhile and it didn't make me happy. Loose stools, gas, ect.

It's the worst of the "premium" feeds IMHO.

I prefer Euk, but it sure is pricey :? But, hey...the dog's eat less of it than other feeds so I think it evens out. They sure have tootsie roll turds on the Euk :D

DIB, check around before you order the Extreme Athlete at $36. You may or may not have many stores in your area but a local pet store in my area sells it for $27 a bag.
I like the Arkat Enhance myself. My problem is that nobody around here carries it. I'm using the Diamond right now. The dogs seem to like it.

I've been feeding Hi-Tek Intimidator. I've been using it for about the last 4 50lb. bags. So for i like it.
I started with diamond until the corn scare came out, then i went to Exclusive and the co-op quit carrying it, then i went to Enhance and the co-op quit carrying it. Went to Pro-plan and liked it but dang that stuff be high, coat looked great. So i started on Intimidator and i really like it.
ALOT of your quail and pheasant people in GA use it. There are several field trialers in GA that us it.
You can get it at Johnson Milling in Clinton for about $25 a 50lb bag. NO Corn

I have been feeding it for a while now, since I can't get anymore Enhance. Its the easiest to find around here and usually in the 28 to 30 price range. We discussed the Arkat on WD forum a few weeks back and I have been real disappointed with the number of folks that stated they contacted Arkat and they seemed as if they weren't interested in helping them find a source. I have tried to keep a supply to keep from having to switch but they were no help. I guess they have enough customers.

I feed diamond pro and regular diamond for several years and liked it. I had one dog that did not do well on it but the rest did great. I think it is probably the safest food out there right now since they killed a couple hundred dogs a couple years ago. I feed enhance pro athelete or hunters edge now. Would feed Euk if I didn't have to drive an hour to pay less than $55 per bag.

I switched to extreme athlete about 2yrs ago and have been feeding it ever since. I am satisified. My local feed store would never have pro plan in stock when I needed it. I have noticed that max bounces back in hot weather alot better than he used to. Athena never gets tired no matter what but she was only fed extreme athlete, so I dont have anything to compare it to. Give me a call and I can tell you a little more.

I used it up in till the big corn scare, and everyone in my area quit carrying it. I switched to Sportsman's Pride, and haven't looked back.
