I got up at 4am saturday and headed up river from Barnett. We went into some holes that I had hunted last year, and no teal anywhere. Saw a few woodies and alot of gators. Something needs to be done about the gator problem on the river north of 43. I bet we saw 20-25 gators.

Deadeye you got to remember that the Ross Barnett has more gators per acre than any body of water in the state. It is also on a program and more gators are taken off of it than any other body of water in the state. But the little ones are fixing to hatch and the numbers will be back up again. We try but remember they were there first.

Deadeye, Don't you know there ain't no ducks up there anyway. Gators done ate them all. I sure hope nobody else plans to hunt there would hate for gators to attack. So I think its best that we all just stay away from there and quit talking about it.

No doubt there are lot's of gators there. I have hunted two years there but not this year. My hunting partner was scared to deatht the first time we went. I had already been there once by myself and knew how many to expect. We set out the dekes (early teal season) well before legal shooting hour and sat in the darkness listening to numerous splashes. Some were real close. Our new joke then was "splash.." "...well there goes another decoy" After sunrise we saw many woodies and few teal. But the biggest surprise was about a twelve footer that swam through the middle of the spread. Wish I'd had a camera.

On a serious note I hunt with a guy that had a 12 footer turn and go after one of his goose floaters. Said it was pretty cool but I don't think so. Any way he scared the gator off with a warning shot and he went away. A friend of mine lives down river and his neighborhood backs up to the river in certain parts and he said they get gators around all the time. I just wish they'd open a season and let us take care of a few of them. baldduck

Ah gators aint too bad, just gotta watch your four legged freinds in any area where they may be some. However they are kinda neat animals, I do hunt them down here, and the season has been quite productive, but as someone else said, they were here and are true inhabitants of the land down here. I guess you do have to watch them though.

They should be coming your way. We just got them at the end of this week. Few in number, but getting here nonetheless. Maybe you'll
get in a good day or two before its over.
