Hawaiian Duck "Koala"

Postby delta79 » Thu Nov 29, 2007 8:34 pm

This duck resembles a female mallard and said to be a subspecies. This duck has been hanging out right beside the building I work at. It has been feeding in some flooded grass on the edge of a gravel parking lot. These pictures were taken on Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. In one of the pics you can see Downtown Honolulu.

You my friend have the magnificent bald eagle on the left picture. The right looks to be like trash blowing across a parking lot.

If that is indeed a bald eagle in the picture, then you might want to notify the authorities. Because this would be the very first sitting of a bald eagle in Hawaii, ever!

Aloha. Got any Nene's? I always they were a nice looking bird. We used to have to push them out of the way when training at the KTA over on the Big Island.
