Just heard a game warden checked something like one hundred fields yesterday covering more than 250 miles. Found six baited fields. Documented by camera and took samples.
Just wanted to remind everyone about the ten day period before season.
I haven't found a place yet so I guess I will resort to shooting at strays coming off someone else's place near the house.
Dont wing em!

yeah, you can never be too careful. a buddy of mine went on a hunt with a friend of his who was a friend of a friend....you know how that goes. he is the most law abiding hunter i know of (next to stano) also one of the most observant...before he ever uncased his gun he personally checked the field didn't see anything out of the ordinary..but the game wardens had checked the field prior to opening day...and within the grace period for disc(ing) up the field and had documented it as you said. they busted the whole field and everyone was charged a set fine, plus a per bird fine. ended up costing him about $700 if memory serves me right.

we had a similar situation last year when the landowner did not have his field prepared proper with-in the 10 days... everything looked fine on oping morn.. the land owner fessed up and paid a hefty fine and the others were checked and told to leave.. other fines in that field were 4 unplugged guns, 2 no license, and 2 felons in possession of firearms.... and to think they invited me the nite before... glad i had my own field...haha...

When I posted this topic I hadn't given it a whole lot of thought. But now I can see how someone with a pay to hunt field for some reason may not have had it prepared in time. So here you go out on opening morning and are really siked up. Pay your money try to beat everyone else to that corner that you had seen all the birds flying over and out jumps one of the Government's finest. I have never had this experience (probably due to the inadequate monetary resources) but it would suck.

I may have to hunt one prepared by others (legally I hope), because my field is sucking.
