Hey B Long, they got it, Just put them on the bottom of a climber. My dog will sit on my old man this year. I see you are from Prentiss, MS. Do you know Polky "keith Polk".

Amakers won't work on big trees 'cause they're only around 20"-24" wide, between the tubing. We use one when we hunt in the smaller trees, but run into the 'big tree' problem ocassionally. So, we bought one of the many types of dog stands that have a chain that runs around the tree. 'Might want to take a 12" piece of 2x4 or something on a wedge shape, to level the stand on the tree....some of those cypress trees tend to flare-out, radically, at the base. Good luck!

I use one like Anatidae descibes. The chain would "pop" off under normal dog movements thus dunking the animal. My dog immediately began to hate the thing. I purchased a carabiner to securely lock the chain on but too late to convince the dog. The main problem is I got a 95lb and I really don't think the one I had was designed for a dog that size. It is an older "Tree Doc" the newer ones may be better.

I use the bottom of my old man climber.

There is another choice that dose not need a tree. The bench that handicapped people use in the bath/shower. Aluminum, adjustible legs for hieght light weight and pleanty large. Garage/yard sale, resale and pawn shops if new is to much.

I use the LOC-ON stand that has the carpeted platform. Dog can't snag toenails or feet between bars and chain will fit most any tree or stump. I got mine on sale thru an internet site a couple of years ago for around $70.

Be careful hunting with a dog in flooded timber, especially around cypress trees. Before setting up, wade the area that your dog could possible be jumping into to make sure no under water objects are within that jump area. By not doing so could cause serious harm to the dog by him impaling himself with a beaver stob or cypress knee.

DOG STANDS FOR FLOODED TIMBER?
B.Long, my wife bought me a stand from cabelos for x-mas last year. I tried all those deer stand methods as well... What a pain. This thing has a rubber mat so there feet don't freeze, and a step that sits in the water so they can actually step up themselves. Which is great if you happen to not be right next to the stand when the dog is trying to get on.. ie.. if you send the dog on a retrieve & you go for a short retrieve yourself to speed things along or whatever the case may be... either way the dog can get him/herself up without help..
My 2 cents..
