Battery Storage

Postby Haymaker » Thu Jun 27, 2002 4:13 pm

Fellas,

I recently purchased a couple of Robo Duk decoys and I was wondering what is the best way to store the batteries until hunting season. The instructions say to store them in a cool place, but my question is that should the batteries be stored fully charged or not? Is it better to run them down then recharge them completely prior to putting them into storage?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Darrell

Most rechrgable batteries are suppose to be run down the first time, then recharged to full capacity after that. Try finding the site for the company that made them and send them and email or phone them and ask.

you could try storing them in the nearest trash can ...they seem to live longer than in the wild

......Decisions, decisions, decisions......

It wasn't.....<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>"What's the water level on the river?" OR<LI>"What 'hole' do you think the ducks will want into, tomorrow?",.....OR
<LI>"Which boat would be better suited for where we're going, tomorrow?",.....OR<LI>"What time is legal shooting time?",.....OR <LI>"What's the weather forecast?",.....OR <LI>"How many decoys do you think we'll need?", OR<LI> "What time do we need to get to the landing?",.....Blah, blah, blah.......</UL>

....Or even.......<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI> "I need to know where the nearest 'clays' facility is, so I can get use to my brand-new shotgun before duck season. </UL>

....But <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote
"What is the best way to store the batteries until duck season?"
.....Now, THAT'S what I call a 'serious' duck hunter. 'Don't know that I've ever seen an article published on the "Finer Points of Duck Hunting" that contained a section on 'battery care'.

I know you mean well, buddy...........but surely, you can't be serious!

Haymaker,

Let me apologise for my collegues, but any topic that has to do with the robo duck, does nothing but open the door to ridicule. But consider yourself lucky, no one has told you to store them where the sun don't shine YET !!!!

If I were you I would just set them on my conc. drive way in the direct sunlight to keep them warm.

Well this topic looks like it is starting to go the wrong way. I am going to stay out of the middle of this one.

It's too late, 'Dukman'.....you've already 'jumped-in' just by responding, at all. ".....looks like it's going the wrong way?"......Naw....'gotta 'nip' stuff like THIS, early...to keep this board from being COMPLETELY taken-over by idiots! .....(but do it in a nice way , so you don't hurt anyone's pride.....any more than they've already done, with their initial display of blatent ignorance)

'Cook'em'.....don't apologize on my behalf.......'Haymaker' knows he's just tryin' to start somethin'.....he's probably just as bored as some of the rest of us, and is just trying to 'liven' things up. If anything, he owes US an apology!....but there's no harm in havin' a little fun.

Good try, 'Haymaker'......but I really don't think anybody here, is stupid enough to believe you're REALLY serious.

If you ARE serious......may you're batteries give you a REAL sense of accomplishment.

Wouldn't ya'll agree.....that question ranks right-up there with.....

<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>"Where can I get a DU 'duckhead' window decal that faces to the 'left', so I'll have a matched pair?" ,.......OR
<LI>"Last year, I killed 2 mallards that were banded in Laurel, Maryland." (Geez) .....OR
<LI>"What's the 'best' color to get in an acrylic call?" ,......OR<LI>" 3 ducks is 'PLENTY'! ,.....blah, blah, blah." </UL>......OR, (OUR concensus, all-time favorite).....<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>"Where's the 'best' place to hunt?" </UL>

Do y'all think the northern states are short-stopping the ducks by feeding them big piles of corn?

Absolutely....Without a doubt!!! BWAAAHAHAhahahaha!! ......good one, 'Crow'.......I completely forgot about THAT one.

'Cook'em'.....Well, I can't really say, one way or the other, on that one......neither do I....... <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote
"own any gun you can think of"
....nor have I..... <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote
"shot all the waterfowling guns ever made".
Consequently, since I neither 'own' an 'SBE', nor have I ever 'shot' one, I have no personal experience on which to base an opinion.

If it was not for all the smart asses in the world what would we do? I would like to catch some of these in my county on a given day, I bet they would be glad to leave after I was threw with them.
