ADS...Mathletes and builders uinite 3-4-5 rule
Building a fence at new house and started laying strings last night using 3-4-5 rule. House is 78 feet wide, going 84 feet from each corner to back corner of fence. When staked string and measured width at back corners I am at 74 feet, so I am off somewhere. Trying to figure out if house is 78 wide (A) x 84 fence sides(B), what should diagonal measure (C).

If I am understanding you correctly, A (squared) + B (squared) = C (squared) so 78 (squared)+84 (squared) = X(squared) so diagonal (X) should be approx. 114.6 ft.
If I have your thought process correctly hahahaha

If you're just tryin to get fence square to house and ain't got a tape over 100', Take a few separate 84' measurements as square off the house as you can and make the base line of da fence cross all the points/stakes.... Tweak lil till you like it....
