Long-Tail Throttle Cable
Broke my throttle cable this weekend on my go-devil. Is it possible to completely do away with the push/pull lever and go to something like a twist handle see on outboards or dirtbikes?

I am not sure about the outboard style throttle, but you can use a bicycle brake handle and cable for a replacement

Re: Long-Tail Throttle Cable
Broke my at some lake a few years ago. Went to some town local lawnmower place and bought a cable for a lawnmower. Quick and easy replacement. I wouldn't want a twist type because on long runs you will have to hold it steady the whole time. That is much easier to do with the lever. The bicycle brake idea doesn't sound too bad either.

I found on the bycicle brake cables you didn't have the travel and would half to make some adjustments to make it work. But it works great after you did.

We have used this one as well on one that we built for a buddy of mine it worked good to. It's the same as what on a dirt bike throttle

Blake that wont work because my handle is 1" not 7/8". I may have to find an adjustable brake handle. Doing to do some research on it. Its not on the motor you picked up for me. This is on a 23hp

Why don't you call that place down on I 55 south near Byram. I think it's called Mississippi machine or Mississippi engine or small engine or something like that?
They are a pretty big part supplier for small engines and may have one?
While you're added pick up one of these so you can loop of the cable so it won't freeze next time:

Re: Long-Tail Throttle Cable
Did you use your stock cable or did you replace the cable also. I purchased a lever that works great but by cable was shot. My motor has a spring on it that will pull the throttle back in place once you let off. My next question is can I go with a flexible cable or do I need to go with what was on it like a steel solid cable.

I've bought this same setup before for a motorcycle...a true redneck could rig it up on a surface drive. The grip has a friction screw that can be adjusted to hold the throttle open if your going for a long ride.
