Chucky Mullins Story

Postby hillhunter » Thu Sep 04, 2014 6:55 pm

I can remember when this happened, I was 9 years old and remember talking about it at school the next Monday. I didn't know the whole story of his life but I think the program on the SEC network is a great tribute to him and his teammates, and to the Vanderbilt player involved at the time. Great story, worth watching.

I was there and remember that game well. I moved to Nashville a little over a year ago and met Brad(the man from Vandy) through work. He really is the stand up man that he comes across as in the film. He never talks about the incident, I found out that he was the guy that Mullins hit through co-workers. I proposed to my fiancé a few months ago and was able to take her out for an expensive dinner that night thanks to a gift card to a restaurant in Nashville that Brad had given me for helping him. The movie premiered at Vandy Tuesday night and he was in tears the entire movie.

The film that showed last night on the sec network was outstanding. I knew the story, remember when it happened etc but it was real deep looking at through brad Gaines perspective. I made my 11 year old who plays football and is a big reb fan watch it with me and he developed a new outlook on the whole story. Even if your not a reb fan go watch it.

I was there, saw the hit. It was a bad deal but thought they did a good job with the show.

I was also at the game. I believe it was homecoming. My mother still remembers the exact date it happened. Remember the hit and the silence afterward. Remember going out to eat after the game and someone in the restaurant had heard he was probably paralyzed. It was and still is an eerie feeling. Can't wait to see the show.

Hell I will admit that there was two or three times I had to wipe away a few. Great show even if it was showing Ole Miss.
