Bama Fans Everywhere
How far west do you have to travel to get away from the Bama fans? We are eat up with them on the east side of the state. Folks that were born and raised in Mississippi, went to school in Mississippi, all their parents and grandparents were born and raised in Mississippi. They are turning into Alabama fans left and right. I think it is some sort of virus. They are like zombies. One day they are normal and the next day they are telling folks they have been Bama fans all their life. Just wondering if you proud Mississippians on the west side of the state have to deal with them?
Re: Bama Fans Everywhere
no near as littered with bama as that side... however the sw portion of the state is littered with feckin lsu fans (when they begin to loose, even just a couple games, a lot of it goes away for a short period of time)

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day

Haha! I know what you mean. It bothers me a little with two good schools in our state. These people make me sick.

People just like to associate themselves with a winner.
Come on over to the dark side...

it's a shame

Haha! The funny thing is that my family originated from Alabama and I spent a good portion of my childhood at my grandparents in Alabama. Somehow I have managed to resist the temptation to go over to the dark side.webbmaster wrote:People just like to associate themselves with a winner.

Re: Bama Fans Everywhere
So let me get this straight....
It disgusts you all that people in your own state don't "cheer" for OM or MSU (regardless if they went to school there), but instead cheer for Alabama. But yet if they did cheer for OM or MSU in large numbers then you would thumb your nose at them for being "sidewalk alum"?

Re: Bama Fans Everywhere
All schools have a lot of sidewalk Alumni. Bama has more than any other school because they have enjoyed more success than any other school. I know two Jackson area Ultra-Bama fans. Neither attended the University of Alabama...one attended a small college in Alabama and the other has no known tie to the school that I know of. Both are very successful...not the Walmart Bama fan that comes to mind. Both are season ticket holders and go to most of the away games as well.
Everyone likes a winner, I suppose.

Everyone knows why Bama has so many bandwagon/fair weather/front runner fans. Don't think anyone was debating why. You would have to live along the eastern border of the state to understand how annoying it is. Most have jumped on board since Saban was hired and know nothing about the school, the athletic programs or the history of Alabama football. They don't follow any other Alabama sport. They just want to associate themselves with Alabama football because it gives them something to brag about. If MSU or Ole Miss could string together several 10 win seasons then a lot of them would switch back to supporting a Mississippi school. I wish they would.duckter wrote:Deltamud77 wrote:That, my friend, is called hitting the nail on the head. Only about 60 days of the year, and they're just like a buck in rut. First cold front at the end of football season and they start coming out of the woodwork. Walking around with their necks all swoll up and chest puffed out. Snorting and wheezing at all the local waffle house waitresses bragging about "our big duck lease" Of course this is also when they're at their dumbest. Show 'em one gar hole that's had ducks on it for the first time in ten years, and they'll fall all over themselves trying to fund your kids' college fund.bigoak wrote:Just wondering if you proud Mississippians on the west side of the state have to deal with them?

Well, all I have to say about all of these "sidewalk alums" of Alabama is that they are very easy to spot and identify --- they will be wearing Crimson red with a large A visible somewhere on their clothing or on a hat or both, and their vehicles are usually adorned with several not so subtle indicators of their preffered team. Being easy to spot and identify makes them very easy to avoid.
Yes, these people are like zombies who just suddenly appear in droves after a triggering event --- in this case, a big Alabama win. Nearly all Bama zombie survivalists are in agreement that the destruction of the brain is the only surefire way to neutralize the Bama zombie. Of course, the frontal lobe must be damaged because the Bama zombie acts on base impulses, like pursuing and eating other people, destroying their brain cells and/or eating their brains, teabagging their victims, or poisoning their victim's trees. Bama zombieism is like a virus that can spread uncontrollably, and it must be avoided at all costs or destroyed.
First of all, if you are trying to avoid them, then try to stay away from the following locations after a big Tide victory:
Wal-Mart
Waffle House and Huddle House
Truck Stops
Convenience Stores in Alabama and East MS
Chain Restaurants (eg Applebees, Chili's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, etc.)
Flea Markets
Sidewalk Sales
RV Sales lot and parks
Moblie Home Sales lot and parks
Yet, however much you try to spot and avoid them, you could eventually unexpectedly find yourself surrounded during a spontaneous outburst , trapped in a corner, with no means of escape. In such a situation, here are a few tips on how to destroy the Bama Zombies, if necessary (note: this is an absolute last resort ):

Good luck out there.
