The Auburn coaching search will continue today with Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart as the apparent leader to become the school's new football coach, according to someone familiar with the process.

It would spice up the iron bowl, as well as test the character of the bama fans

Re: Kirby Smart to Boogville?
Kirby has already called Trooper to ask him to stay if he gets the job. We'll see what happens, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kirby is our next coach. As I mentioned a while back, the players all want Kirby and I think that is a result of Coach Dye talking him up.

reminds me of the old black and white photo of Bryant speaking to Dye

Sounds like a slam dunk at this point.
Hate to see him go, but he wasn't going to stay forever. Good for him if so. Good guy and great coach.

That would be one way for Kirby to ensure that he would then, never be in line to replace Saban in Tuscaloosa. I think it's just a play, Malzahn probably will be the chosen one.

So, does he leave this afternoon or stick around for championship?
Re: Kirby Smart to Boogville?
Heard Auburn needed someone who was accustomed to being the #2 guy to fit the #2 team in the state.

Re: Kirby Smart to Boogville?
Word on the sorest is that Smart wanted Dye out of the picture pretty much. He said Dye had too much control. Auburn told him that was just the way it is.
