Dial/Murry

Postby the tree » Mon Dec 03, 2012 4:31 pm

So CBS is touting SEC championship game as big boy football, but cries foul when Dial thanks Murry for the interception. Was the hit at dirty play or big boy football?

I thought the eye gouging by the UGA player was even dirtier.

It is a play that has always happened in football and just recently been deemed "dirty". Murray should have known better, you always have to have your head on a swivel.

Nah, it's always been a dirty play. It's just that "dirty" isn't as cool nowadays. My vote doesn't count, but if I were that defensive player, I'd be thanking the Lord above that Murray wasn't seriously injured. That is unless debilitating fellow players is a badge of honor that players wear (I honestly don't know.)

For me, at that point, he was no longer a QB, he was a defensive player.

Maybe a tad high on the shot, but otherwise, if he's on the field at that point, well...he's fair game.

Let me clarify by saying I think hitting the QB hard on an interception is what I was talking about not the helmet to helmet part. I definetly think they are doing the right thing my trying to take the helmet to helmet hit out of the game.

It is dirty and should have been a 15 yard penalty, but it is also part of the game. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't done the same thing in my day (I'd also be lying if I said I wasn't flagged for it). That doesn't mean it is not dirty though.

Come on guys....if you ever played organized ball (I played little, rode the pine mostly) but when you get a chance on an INT or a punt return, you know you always looked for a chance to blindside someone............. 8)

It was a clean block. On an interception return you are trained to go block for the return. I'm sure he would have hit anyone else the same way
he hit him. I think the helmet to helmet BS is also another way of pussification of the game of football. Let them hit and let them play. If they
can't take the hit they shouldn't be out there playing. Period.
