Les Miles to Arkansas
reports Arkansas is willing to buy out LSU and offer Miles 5.5 per year for 5 years (27.5 total contract)....on BR radio, several websites now...
lots of smoke...not idea if Miles camp has made an response, I think it's just Arkansas reaching out at this time.

Re: Les Miles to Arkansas
Miles could be maneuvering for another raise and contract extension.
But, if he did leave LSU to go to AR, I would say that would definitely spark the rivalry that many have previously tried to manufacture between these two schools.

If he left Arky for LSU then it would be dumbest coaching move of all time.

Don't let the door hit you, Les. LSU could not get lucky enough for this to happen.
Re: Les Miles to Arkansas
I know that Les is nuts, but he is winning. If LSU does not want him, Auburn will gladly take him.
Come on Les, we make extra small Auburn hats. Real grass too.

And impossible as well.

Re: Les Miles to Arkansas
the list of people that would turn the job down is far shorter than the list of people that could win like Miles has at that school...that's my opinion...MSDawg870 wrote:Who's out there that could replace him and have the same or more success?Deltamud77 wrote:Don't let the door hit you, Les. My thought is this...is LSU loses Miles to Arkansas, for everybody else in West it's double edged sword. Arkansas will be mediocre and beatable and far from approaching the program Petrino was building. However, LSU will get to hire somebody and there are plenty candidates out there that could turn LSU into everybody's absolute worse nightmare, including Saban and Alabama. I read another comment somewhere that said in response to Miles leaving..."Why? At Arkansas he won't be able to get the players to overcome his coaching like he can at LSU." That sums up my thoughts, I don't think he is a bad coach and I think he'd win respectably anywhere, but he ain't as good as the winning % at LSU shows. I'm pretty well convinced Ed Orgeron, David Cutcliffe, Sylvester Croom, Ellis Johnson, et al could win 9-10 yearly at LSU. It ain't that hard...it's a perfect storm of a place for college football...Les Miles would be insane to leave.

I just don't think people are thinking this out.
Slive will NEVER let one SEC school take another's head football coach. It just won't happen under his watch.

Re: Les Miles to Arkansas
Did arkansas make a formal offer, or is this purely rumor, possibly started by an agent, to try and get 'ol Les more money?
Re: Les Miles to Arkansas
I am by no means a Les Miles sunshine pumper. But to discredit his record saying anyone could do it, in my opinion, is not right. Remember, he has had more 10 win seasons than Saban at LSU. He has more LSU coaching records than any other coach.
To say just any average coach can come to LSU and win with the consistency Les has is just wrong. Ask Larry Coker, Ron Zook, Lane Kiffin or any other coach that has followed a legend. Not just anybody can keep the train rolling. Les has been a strong recruiter and made mostly good coordinator hires. Miles is not the best game day coach, but he is in the right position, with his strengths, at LSU.

Ron Zook, Larry Cocker, nor Lane Kiffin took over what Les Miles did at the place and in the time period Les Miles did. And all 3 of them could've done what Les Miles has done in the same years, and in the same program. I don't buy into the strong recruiter thing either, cause a lot of coaches could also recruit at LSU, possibly even better....but certainly as good. I just don't agree, and I think there is a long list of names that could do more with LSU. And a longer line that could do as well as Miles is/has done...I'm not trying to discredit what he's done but he didn't turn anything into a powerhouse, he's maintained and honestly should've done ALOT more on several occassions...that should be plainly obvious to any college football fan that keeps up with the program.
I will agree, Les Miles makes very good coaching assistant decisions. Those choices have helped him, I do agree with that. He seems to be humble enough and grounded enough to understand the situation and plays it perfectly, it fits him you are right. Those points I give him all the credit in the world...also the reasons I don't think he'll go anywhere.
