Birds on the move-the time has finally arrived!!

Postby willowbrake » Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:54 pm

Ok, if figure if everybody gives a brief description of whether or not their spot has birds, how many, and what species would be encouraging for all of us, i hope. No specifics as to where exactly and certainly no public land info! I used to hunt the public alot, with success until the internet so i know all about it!
I will tell you that i live in south Alabama and their are quite a few divers down, this is the most i have seen since 1989. Saw a few hundred scaup and redheads trading around saturday in places not seen since 89' so that is very encouraging. As far as the Delta my report is 500 birds in one pond with a mixture of Mallards, teal, and a few shovelers. The snows are thickening up too!
i can confirm that their appears to be many more mallards early this year as opposed to previous years.
Hope this is a lift to some folks as nothing is more exciting than the anticipation of the hunt! Nothing!

I agree with more mallards. I've heard several folks say the same and that they have more birds early than they've had in years.

Fingers crossed!

Started pumping my place on Friday in the delta and worked all day on blinds in 2 different locations on Saturday...15 miles apart. I didn't see any birds but I didn't see much water either. I've heard of a couple places that have some birds but they have them every year. I believe this will definitely be a better year than last.

I got an email report yesterday of a raft of 6000 mallards on a north MS lake.

Three of us limited out Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Tallahatchie County. Gadwalls were everywhere.

The weekend before we opened the season in Arkansas... only the gadwalls were greenheads.

So far this year 3 my two sons and I have taken 108 ducks... we are more than satisfied. This is a much better start than we had during the past few years.... combined !
Laughing is the sensation of feeling good all over and showing it principally in one spot.
