Me and a friend got a new used HD satellite for deer camp. We have our regular dish hooked up and working, but can't seem to do anything with the HD one. Anyone near Jackson area or near us (camp is at Georgetown in Copiah COunty) that can assist in getting the HD dish right?
thanks!
Robert

Re: DirecTV satellite help
Make sure you are running an HDMI cord from the box to the tv... HD you have to have this...

If you are using old coax from dish to box, it won't carry an hd signal. We has cable for regular definition tv at our house when we moved in. Went to digital hd cable when we bought an hd tv with a tax refund. I was Stoked about college gameday in hd. Every Saturday for a month got error signal. I said eff this cable caca, I'm switching to direct. Tech came out to installthe dish and told me he had to pull new coax throughout because I had old coax that wouldn't carry he'd signal.

Yep, I'm using HDMI cord to TV and an HD dish. I just can't get it set to receive the satellite signals in the box's setup menu.
Re: DirecTV satellite help
The HD dish uses 3 satelites instead of 2 so you have to get it near perfect to get a signal.
Re: DirecTV satellite help
You mentioned your using the "regular dish", the HD channel are on a separate LNB if I remember right, so if you have a standard dish and LNB, then you won't get HD no matter what you do.
DirecTV's newest technology on the LNB is Single Wire Multiswitch (SWIM), but older HD equipment still works.
