I've heard good things about Blue Bay Outfitters if you are into a flats fishing trip with max 2 people. Especially if you want to fly fish.

went last week with Destin Inshore Fishing. Great trip. Just to clarify. INshore means within 9-12 miles of shore. not bay fishing.
the bay fishing is really tough in that area especially tough this time of year
Go to La. if you want to catch redfish and trout

I've fished with them several times, and I never had a bad trip. The night trout trip is my favorite when the weather is hot.duramax wrote:I've heard good things about Blue Bay Outfitters if you are into a flats fishing trip with max 2 people. Especially if you want to fly fish.

I've never heard that definition before. I believe you are thinking of what most people refer to as near shore fishing. Inshore is traditionally just fishing in depths around 6ft deep or less, whether in bays, intercoastal, or flats. An inshore slam is Redfish, trout, and snook (some folks include flounder in the upper gulf since snook aren't there) in one day. You don't catch these fish 12 miles from shore, at least not on purpose.muddylab wrote: Just to clarify. INshore means within 9-12 miles of shore. not bay fishing.

Re: Destin Inshore Fishing Guides
Here's a red I caught the first week of August a couple of years ago fishing inshore with Blue Bay.

As mentioned, the night trout trip is always good this time of year.

Based on this definition, offshore is apparently the same as inshore.muddylab wrote:Synonyms: alongshore, coastal, littoral, nearshore, offshore, shoreside

I'd like to know when the last time anyone caught a redfish or speck 9-12 miles from shore. I do understand that fishing close to shore is considered inshore, but to say fishing in bays, lagoons, or areas of brackish water is somehow not considered inshore is silly.

Definitions aside, we were down this past weekend and every boat that came back in to the docks were loaded down with fish.muddylab wrote: the bay fishing is really tough in that area especially tough this time of year

There were charters taking walkups. I read they'd extended the redfish season by 9 days or so, not sure when that puts the end on the season.
My wife said "if we'd came down here yesterday, we'd be fishing today" - and she's not really into hunting/fishing.
Re: Destin Inshore Fishing Guides
not redfish its red snapper. Please see below to the nine reference. the capains down there call the nine miles and in INSHORE
May
Red Snapper Season 2012
The 2012 Gulf of Mexico red snapper recreational harvest season begins June 1 in state and federal waters. The last day of the 40-day season is July 10.
This year’s state season, which is the same as the 2012 federal recreational red snapper season in the Gulf of Mexico, was set in May at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission meeting.
Florida state waters in the Gulf extend from shore to nine nautical miles; federal waters extend beyond that line to 200 nautical miles.
The Gulf red snapper stock is improving, but the population still needs an increase in the number of older fish for it to be sustainable. Red snapper are estimated to live more than 50 years, but the current stock consists primarily of fish that are only a few years old. Older fish are the key to rebuilding the population, because older female red snapper produce more eggs than younger females. This season will help continue to rebuild the red snapper population so that more red snapper fishing opportunities will be possible in the future.
