Re: XLVI
I want to know one thing. I remember when Eli was in college and there were lots of state fans and and local media that said Fant, a QB at State at the time, would go further with his career at QB. What happened?

"Former MSU QB Kevin Fant has returned to his high school alma mata as an assistant football coach. After the beating he took during his time at State, it’s surprising he’d have anything to do with the sport."
"..Only difference is Eli had an offensive line every season. Fant was just another QB swallowed up by mediocre talent around him."
fant had to run for his life every snap.
Experience is a freakin' awesome teacher...

So, once again, the obsessive Bear fans turn this into a "bash MSU" thread. Awesome.mossyisland wrote:I want to know one thing. To play along, I will respond. To preface, I think Eli is a great quarterback and I never though Fant was better.
It is obvious that Eli is a championship quarterback. Winning 2 Superbowls is a huge accomplishment, but, while at TSUN, why couldn't he win a National Championship, or even play for a NC? Why couldn't he win the SEC Championship, or even play for it?
I wonder if Eli ever thinks if he had gone to a decent program, he may have at least competed for a conference championship.

Re: XLVI
I never thought Fant was better than Eli but I definitely think Fant was better than what he gets credit for. That guy played behind probably the worst OL ever in the SEC he was pretty much getting hit as soon as he got the ball. That will really mess with a QB mentally.

Re: XLVI
Ben Jarvis Green was the surprise for me.. he transferred to ole miss from Indiana or somewhere and I always thought he hit the hole on his tiptoes..But good for him making it to the next level and starting..
I think the state of MS had 4 starters ....
I was personally a huge part of the win for Giants last night.. I bet on Patriots to ensure the win for the Giants.. Works every time
. Us Rebels will have to hang our hat on this moral victory for a long time as far as football goes...not much happening in Oxfordberry to get excited about.

My bad, I was looking at the definition of the word "compete" which is "go up against in a contest". my badScottyLee wrote:one stated; compete for a conference championship... no one ever stated WIN a conference championship.... i mentioned that he did compete. he had just as good of a shot in 03 to compete for a conference shot as he coulda had anywhere.... and lsu did play uga in 03 for the championship game/ beat the dawg chit out of them...

Hold on! I am not a bear fan trying to rub anything in. I am just stating in either 02 or 03 before the season started the Clarion Ledger did a comparison of the two QB's. The writer wrote that Fant would end up with a better career. Some fans took it and ran with it.

Your ability to pick pro games is apparently just a horrible as your ability to pick college games.swamprooter wrote:
