The perfect dove field.

We put on a commerical dove hunt every year over Sunflowers. The hunt is great and I would not change anything. The trick to anything that you plant for Doves is to remember they migrate. On our Dove field (75 acres) we begin taking out rows of Sunflowers the last week of July and continue the process uptill the required dates (10 days before season). The birds migrating stay in my field and do not leave. They roost in the trees surrounding my fields and do not leave the area. If you do research on Sunflower fields you will find some great ideas. Or you can just pay me $150 for a weekend hunt which includes fried catfish and the like. I gurantee you will have the opportunty to kill as many birds as you want!!

Can't go wrong with Sunflowers!!!!

Last year! 63 hunters all limited out on Sunday. The first limit was at 3:15 (opened at 2pm). On Monday, 46 hunters and all limited out except 13. This sounds like an "opportunity". Not to mention all the birds the club members killed the rest of the season. You just go to Crowder, MS and ask them who has the best Dove Hunt. They will point you in my direction.

OH, hehe, silly me, sounded like you were implying that folks could kill....."over the limit" on your hunt. As bad as Feds are down here, I don't dare allow that crap-it might happen on my field, but not if I know it. Well, if I didn't have a dove field of my own I might have to come up there and try yours. Sounds like you have a great setup.

sunflowers have always been a favorite... this past year i chose to plant strips of grain sorgram with a strip of grass, then sunflowers with a strip of grass and my favorite, cowpeas...... with another strip of grass..... then repeat the crop rotation..... then in the fall disc the strips of grass and plant in wheat..... provides fresh dirt to land and plenty of food plots... this makes for an excellant food source for small game along with deer and turkeys for the winter months.... offer them the buffet....... and all game will benifit.......
