Re: 2013 Killin thread
what i like to call "spittin snow and gobblin thunder"
no fancy story as far as the kill goes. nasty weather today, from howling winds to snow flurries this afternoon. the "hunt" started the first of feb. started out with about 30 hens and 4 longbeard's. then my longbeard's disappeared for almost 2 months while anywhere between 20-30 jakes continually made their presence known in the bottom. Evidently the jakes ganged up on the longbeards and planned to have the hens to themselves. that was, until today. first gobbler i have seen on the farm in the fields in over a month. put the slip on him, got into position and the rest was just a waiting game for him to do the deal.
i gave up on killing a gobbler on the place about 2 weeks ago, and have spent countless hours trying to get the birds within 25 steps so my little cousin could get her a crack at one of the jakes. I just never could get it exactly right for the little lady. she is officially priority number one from here on out as long as she keeps wanting to try them.

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day
