I am just shy of 5'10" and 170lbs. I spent 30 minutes this morning trying to hide the full size 1911 in a desantis tuckable. 3:00 or 4:00 was not an option. there was a big squared off area on my belt. I looked deformed. (moreso than normal :D )

DanP just how big of a boy are you? :D
There will be a day....

I've done the same thing. It's tough to hide a full size gun. I'm 6'3", 235 and under a heavy shirt can get away with my full size in a paddle holster at 4 o'clock but it's too uncomfortable. I think my compact will disappear at 4 o'clock in a hybrid holster.

Tombstone, Dan's probably pretty close to your build and i've been around him more times than I can count where he's had the 1911 and I couldn't tell he had it on!

Big thing, which you know Tombstone, is dressing around the gun! Maybe this will help someone else in the same situation though. I can conceal a Glock 20/21 or my Glock 35 (which is very close to a 1911 in size plus it's thicker) every day of the week. Granted i'm a bigger guy than y'all are, it's still very "do-able". I don't tuck in my shirt much, in fact to the point it alarms people when my shirt is tucked in ha! I generally wear fishing shirts (Columbia's) and have bought them a size bigger in the past than I normally wear but most of the time I can get away with even the 20 under my regular size shirt. Also a hint I read somewhere is buy shirts with patterns. Not saying a flowery pattern like a hawaiian shirt but a checkered shirt is much less likely for your gun to "print" in than a solid shirt. Something to do with how the shapes break up the outline of the gun better. Of course a heavy gun like the 1911 needs a damn stout gun belt! I'm going to order a Beltman belt after this next round of dieting since i'm hoping to lose a little more weight. My Instructor belt is already too big, which is kinda nice

One last thing to add...you are over thinking your "printing"! If you feel uncomfortable about it and think you may be over thinking it, put the gun on then ask your wife or a friend if they can truly notice anything different about you. Then get in your vehicle and go to Wal Mart or the grocery store and walk around. The Sheep will not notice a slight protrusion on your hip. 99% of the "they can see it" idea comes from your own head and over-analyzing your carry set up. If someone does happen to ask what it is, tell them it's an insulin pump and you are pretty self conscious about it  Might as well make em feel bad for calling you out ha!

Thankyou sir!
Haha! Just saw this and glad to help! I am assuming you are talking me having enough back trouble for three folks! I wouldn't wish that mess on anyone!

Also, on the concealment, did the Governor just sign into law HB2 during this legislative session that allows for you to carry, as long as its partially concealed? I think this was written to proctect us that carry in the event it became partially revealed. Becomes effective July,1.
