Breeding

Postby farmboy » Thu Jan 03, 2013 3:49 pm

Need opinion . I have a well bred female with good eyes, hips and eic clear and want to breed her. Problem is stud dogs that are available are jam up dogs but eic carriers. What would you do?

There are dogs available. What are you looking for? What is pedigree of your dog? This time of year there are lots of field trial dogs in Ms for winter. I know of several nice males with varying pedigrees and titles that are clear and available. Really just depends on your bitch to determine what dog would likely work well for what you are looking for.

FC/AFC Dominators Duke of Terrell owned by Lou Magee is clear. He is a fine animal. I have a pup out of him that I really really like.

Plenty of Good Stud Dogs that are not Carriers. Breeding EIC Carrier pups is a real pain if you do it right and ethically.

Here is one that is an awesome dog and his pups are looking good. Several others on the At Stud pages you could look into. Also, go the the HRC Website and look at the studs listed there.

Exercise Induced Collapse. Dogs that are of the afected status can collapse from exercise and not just because the execise was excessive.
There is a genetic marker that indicates if the dog is a carrier or affected.
