The irony is-you are better off with mortgage debt than you are without it. Great to be debt free--but it is always good to have a truck payment or a cheap mortgage to show the lenders you have a good rating.

Congratulations! We're working our debt snowball right now. Will pay off my truck within the next 2 weeks & never have a car payment ever again. Students loans and house are only remaining debts but they're big. Gonna make it that much more awesome when I don't have to write those checks anymore!

I would disagree with this...if you don't have a mortgage or a truck payment you can stash that payment back every month and pay cash for EVERYTHING! It works, fact is there is no such thing as "Good" debt.

The only problem is most people can not pay cash for everything. Sometimes you have to borrow in order to get things that you want, like land. I am not in a current financial situation where I could go pay cash for a couple hundred acres, but I can definitely afford to finance it. If I were to wait 10 years and pay cash for it, the value of the land going up would be more than the finance fees. Just my 2 cents.

I can see that and I am definitely one of "most" people so I just do without some things. But to just purposely have a mortgage or car payment to keep up a FICO score makes no sense if you could pay it off. Dave teaches to pay everything off but the house first I believe and then attack the house.

"keep a truck payment or house payment" for a rating score.... CRAZY. Pay cash for everything and soon your score will be 0.00. Cash is king always. Ask anyone wealthy (not just rich) if they have a car payment and they will laugh at you. Even its it 0 percent...

Building wealth is the name of the game not building a rating score! Ask any old retired person, they will tell you the same. I dont want to live/die in a state run nursing home with a 5.00 per hour democrat feeding me when she wants me to be fed and giving me meds when she isnt on her Obama phone.

I want to live with dignity and die in clean sheets.

Dave will tell you the grass feels better under your feet when your own house is paid for.... What he doesnt tell you is:

A meal at Table 100 tastes better.
A concert sounds better.
Kid programs mean more.
Sex is more exciting.
Cars run better.
Sleep is more restful.
Vacations to the same places are different.
The job is no longer stressful.
People dont piss me off as much.
Giving feels sooo much better.
And beleive it or not....our income increased.

Its goes on and on.... We will never go back!
