look, in one of my response I did say the insert was "mine"...that appears as though I'm claiming to own the mold...I don't own the mold, and I did not then nor will I now go into the whole back-story as to how I came to use those inserts for the final product, I don't feel I am obligated to anyone that information, regardless how long they been making duck calls or blowing em competitively. I stand behind the FACT I didn't go out ordering Echo inserts and then start clammering to be the next king ding-a-ling duck call maker as I though I felt it was being presented, I felt a little bit cornered at that time and didn't respond best way I could have, so if anybody feels I am a liar b/c of how I responded, I'm sorry...I wasn't attempting to lie or falsify or challenge anybody ranks among the duck call industry elite or this website for that.

I wish I hadn't even posted it, I should known my personality I'd get in a bind with the elitist...thanks again for everyone comments and feedback

It got out of hand and I apologize as well.... when it got spun on me as I was wrong in my assumptions I got pissed and I set out to prove I wasn't and in the end made myself look like a complete ass hole proving my point.

Good Luck with ya business, 3000 views bound to have sold a few of them calls

This is like if someone carved a bunch of decoys and purchased the bodies pre-carved from somewhere else. Who cares. I tie my own flies for fly fishing, I've carved my own decoys, I load my own rifle and pistol ammo, and I've done other stuff that could have easily been purchased from the same if not cheaper than what I put into making them. I do this because it's fun on a certain level to know I created something for the sports I love. If I had used pre-carved heads or blocks for my decoys and someone jumped on my booty and taking away from what I had done and claiming I didn't actually make every part of the decoy, it certainly would rub me the wrong way. The guy turned some calls himself, which I've never done, so good on him. He's not out trying to infringe on any patents, it's a hobby that might make him some extra cash down the line. I'm trying to see what the big deal is/was.

I know both cam and DH and I think both completely misunderstood each other and stuff was taken out of context.

since this is about custom calls, just wanted to show off a new piece! It's all persimmon (barrel & tone board). Took a lot of sanding and filing but sounds awesome! Oh and it is not for sale, its just a fun hobby to keep from gettin bored durin free time. Next project is making one out of a dog wood I'm waiting to dry. I don't think I'll get a tone board out of it because of the density of the wood but I think the barrel will at least look good. The dog wood has a peachy colored wood once its dried. Oh the reed in this persimmon call is all custom. Just buy long strips of the material and keep snipping it down until it make that sweet sweet noise, then sand and file on the tone board from there.

thanks! The persimmon used in making that call was pulled out of a pond. I'm not sure how long it had been under water. You can tell it was pulled from the water though from the black water stain going through it.

All this over an insert.

DUCK-HUNT, I do see your point about it not being 100 percent custom, But all cars and trucks roll on a circle called a tire. At some point there's really nothing else you can change! Just put your spin and logo on it and roll out.

Cam Lock do your thing bro. If Dunn will sell the inserts ( not saying you put them in) and sell em cheap and you can build a barrel that will compliment it and sell it at an affordable price then go for it.

Some folks live by the POLO rule... You cant wear CHAPS cause it doesn't have the horse, yet its the same dang shirt by the same manufacture in some Chinese sweat shop. Who Cares! You gotta spend it to make yourself happy, then have at.

Love that spalted persimmon. Gives the grain a great look.
FYI, it's not actually a stain from the water, its a fungus, or so I have read.

And if you are turning spalted woods make sure you are wearing a respirator. I think you will like the dogwood call. Older dried dogwood makes a good soft timber call.
