turkeys gobbling
turkeys gobbling
yall been hearing turkeys gobbling on the roost lately? Heard em twice in past week, including this morning...I've heard em in fall before at times, but it's been kinda common occurrence this fall and a friend said same on his place 30 miles down road. Wondering if that's a pattern of any kind or just coincidence...
Re: turkeys gobbling
I heard one gobbling about two weeks ago. He gobbled 4-5 times that evening.

Re: turkeys gobbling
I had a group of at least 20 gobblers pitch down within 50 yards of me yesterday. no gobbling, but they were fighting like it was April 15.

Re: turkeys gobbling
First sunday evning of youth firearm i had 5 longbeards chasing hens for 20 minutes around the plot. One strutted during this whoile epsiode. My little said " Daddy are you sure youths cant kill a turkey in youth season?" when they finally flew up had one gobble about 3 times on the roost.LawDawg wrote:I had a group of at least 20 gobblers pitch down within 50 yards of me yesterday. no gobbling, but they were fighting like it was April 15.

Gets cold then warm....birds get confused and get a little horny, fire off a few "hell yea, I'm about to get some." I've been known to gobble when I shouldn't.

Neighbor told the bird I hunted all spring (and didnt kill
) was gobbling in their field last week.........talk about blood boiling about 4 months too early........forget deer season..........bring on the turkeys!
I can hear this joker from my porch all last spring gobbling on the roost.........just couldnt close the deal.
