It took two weeks for them to devise a plan to re-instate after this year; even though he had violated the "permanently ineligible" measures...amazingly enough, he's being praised and will be further praised as a comeback, turn your life around, whatever...after he plays a season he shouldn't be granted and goes to NFL...I really hate to harbor such negativity about it, but you can't convince me or make me feel good about this...he screwed up and he's getting preferential treatment b/c of who he is...and IF he plays at LSU they can spin it how they want but the only real message is that "if you are good enough on the field, you'll be taken care of off...regardless"...Stinks...

take your punishment, go FCS and get drafted...that doesn't happen with EVERY other player in this situation for no reason...it happens cause they don't have the options Mathieu is getting...

Different types of rehab programs and facilities have different time lines depending on the type of treatment, etc. However, I wouldn't think 14 days and the occasional phone conference with a sponsor would be sufficient if he truly has a drug problem. Truth be told he probably doesn't have a drug problem. Im not saying its ok to use illegal drugs, but just because you use doesnt make you a drug addic or mean you have a problem. He is probably a recreational user who was just dumb enough, unlucky enough, or lazy enough to keep getting caught.

One of my good friends is a huge LSU fan and he broke it down for me this year.....

"Miles had originally said "permanent dismissal" because he probably
assumed Mathieu would tranfer to I-AA and then go pro. Apparently
Mathieu's visit(s) did not go well because he did not transfer.
Mathieu loves LSU and wants to stay. I know he went to rehab. Then it
was reported that Mathieu enrolled in classes.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/sto ... ieu-future
The school drug policy reads that the player is penalized a "one year
suspension" so it would seem that he could come back in 2013 IF Miles
allows it. I think Miles was hoping that Mathieu would just go away.
Now it looks like Miles could be faced with a tough decision whether
or not to allow Mathieu back in 2013. I guess we will just wait and
see. Hopefully it won't be a distraction anymore for the 2012 Tiger
Team..."

He's really fast. I'm sure he just rehabs faster than everybody else.

I think the great irony of the all of the faithful from other schools bashing LSU for something that has not even happened yet is that if during the year Mathieu decided to transfer to their school, they would embrace him with open arms....cough...Masoli....cough...
well, I thought the NCAA had it right, I've said it before...but it is quite funny that their BS intent for such a ruling is the very reason it got overturned.

I expect they re-write that code and prevent the transfer rule from being able to be applied when disciplinary issues are obviously at stake. Or at least for the transfer student in a case to sit a year and prove something...I don't know...either way, it is what it is and while ole fashion logic doesn't prevail over legal jargon, Masoli was "technically" eligible according to their rule, so Ole Miss finally gets on the lucky end of something...never thought I'd see the day.

I thought the prescribed penalty for the offense he committed was suspension for one season, which it appears he will get if allowed to come back to the team next season.

His playing time clock started ticking the moment he enrolled at LSU his freshman year. 5 years to play 4, unless granted additional time by NCAA.

And no, he still cannot accept any benefits that would be prohibited by NCAA rules IF he wants to play NCAA football again.

Funny thing about human nature. We seem to enjoy building these players up with lots of hype, and then get some perverse pleasure out of watching them fall.

The story of this player is not yet over. It will be interesting to see how it ends.

What??? I'm just saying that believing all the bologna about him doing all this without knowing if he'll be reinstated is naive...this ain't got crap to do with NCAA eligibility or rulings or right and wrong....

what you quoted is me talking about Masoli getting in because of loopholes in a NCAA rule not logic of what should have been...in that case the NCAA did get it right, he was elgible according to their rule to play at Ole Miss, despite the fact he F'd up and got kick out Oregon...Nutt and Ole Miss took advantage of it...call me guilty as an Ole Miss fan I guess???...I didn't say all is well, just reality...I don't care about the moral side of whether Tyrann Mathieu gets back in or not, I EXPECT him to I long time lost any faith in logical or moral actions in college football at Ole Miss or anywhere else, you taking me the wrong way in all of this...I think Les Miles and whomever else should've chose wisely their words if they wanted the re-cheeseburger on them later...that's my only charge against anybody in the matter

Probably not a bad gig for him. He can legally get all the money a booster can throw at him and believe me he is! Now can he stay outa trouble? A year is a long time. Maybe he needs a babysitter like des Bryant.
