breaking axles on Ranger

i bought a crew cab ranger a few months ago and put a 2.5 inch lift and 28inch tires. i have broken rear axles back to back weeks driving on dirt roads with no harsh riding at all.

does anyone have experience with this and a possible solution

i bought this mainly for duck season but at this rate i will be walking

Anytime you lift and add heavier tires you always have to replace axles or stock ones will break. Gorilla axles is the best to have I believe.
I had the issue on my grizzly and finally found it out. So got ride of it all and went back to factory level and lighter tires

Ranger crews are bad about breakin them period jsut because of the added strain so when its lifted it hard to keep it together

He is right on, that is a lot of machine sitting on those axles in a bind. Buy gorillas axles that will help.

+1 on gorilla axles and maybe try a lighter tire like zilla's or something, I don't know what brand your running though

It is the angle that the CV joints are in with the lift. Gorillas would for sure help.. but get your check book ready.

willl Gorillas fix the problem or could they break as well. i just spoke to the dealer and he said the cv boots are failing first causing the joint to fail then the axles

Easiest way to solve it would be to get rid of the lift and 28" gorillas

I don't know where you are located. But if you are in Jackson, you might want to try to get aftermarket cv boots put on the axles.. I have broke a birdcage in the past and had Richard's Front End in Byram put new boots on and they seemed to be more heavy duty than factory ones.

But bottom line is that the angle of axles with lift and super aggressive tires are going to do that especially on the crews.

i have decided to remove lift and go to smaller tires. Gorilla axles are 1100 bucks ang not a guarantee they will hold under the strain so i am told

best bet is to pull the lift and fit largest tire you can fit stock ... this way th axles wont be at terrible angles

You can get rhino axles for half the price and the same quality. As stated before, when you lifted you changed the angle of the drive shafts. Another solution is putting new A-arms on it and that will change things dramatically. Contact Backwoods Armor and they can help you out. Anything over a 27" tire and combine the additional height/angle and weight of the tire and you're going to have issues if you don't modify it with Aarms and/or new axles.
