Ask DS - ATV seat cover and carb work

Postby Double R 2 » Tue Sep 04, 2012 1:36 pm

Need a good, cheap alternative to recover an ATV seat.

Also, it won't idle unless the choke is engaged. Any ideas on that?

Thanks in advance!

just get some cheap vinyl and staple it, if its a honda its about just as cheap to buy a carb off e bay and put it on yourself than to pay someone to clean it

Ramsey
Guy named Darnell does a fantastic job and real reasonable. He did the seat on my dozer and golf cart and did a fantastic job. Also does sprinkler work. 601 209 8427. Tell him I sent you.

I'll second the guy on Hwy 80 between Pelahatchie and Brandon. He's right there on the north side of 80 by the railroad tracks next to the CO2 plant. Almost directly across from Rankin Road. As far as the carb goes, I've always had good luck with Steve Woodward over in Clinton, but I used some guy the other day south of Morton around Cracker Station. He was very reasonable on his prices and did very good work. I'll try to find his contact info if you want it.

IMHO, just order you a new seat from Honda.... (used to have a 2000 Rancher 4x4) I got one with the factory cover.... decal on the back suggesting no extra riders or something..... just like the factory.... plastic seat pan and all for like $85. IMHO, there is nothing that hurts the value of a 4-wheeler like some patched up non-stock appearing seat on a 4-wheeler. In this case it doesn't cost that much to make it look stock again......

The carbs aren't rocket science.... they are a hard SOB to get to most of the time..... but they aren't hard to disassemble and clean. A can of carb cleaner and some compressed air and some torch tip cleaners will go along way to making it run correct again.

I can understand if you aren't comfortable doing some of this stuff......I am a D-I-Y guy if it makes sense economically..... I'll figure it out..... I win way more than I loose.
