G&H Decoys (Great Customer Support)

Postby music_man » Tue Jan 31, 2012 11:38 am

So, here is the story:
I purchased 2 dozen G&H magnum, swivel head, mallards this past spring. I have wanted to "upgrade" to all G&H for a while.
Anyhow, after only 2 trips to AR the paint was coming off my drakes! I was furious! My whole reason for going with G&H is their reputation for holding up season after season. Some of the drakes were almost solid black where the paint came off! Only the drakes, the hens looked fine.
Well, I emailed G&H and they sent me a dozen drakes to replace the bad ones. All I had to do was cut the keels off, pop the heads off, and send mail them in!
G&H told me they had a bad batch a couple years ago, and they wanted all their customers to be happy!
So, I'll only buy G&H from now on! And, it is the last American made decoy company!
Glad to know there is still good customer service out there.

I drive through Oklahoma quite often (actually headed back again tomorrow) and often times go right through Henryetta where the factory is located. It's less than a mile off I-40. I notice they have a store so I stop one time. There was an older gentleman in there and he and I struck up a conversation. Come to find out, he is Mr. G&H. The guy talked and talked but he was as nice as he could be and proud of the products he produced. Pretty interesting fella.

If you are ever in the area, I recommend stopping by the shop, although don't expect any better deals there than you can get online.

That was probably Mr. Dick Gizalski (sp?). Larry Smittle was a former long-time employee that retired a few years back. He used to box-up seconds and send them to me. Still owes me 2 mallard drake heads - ya old coot! I think he still hangs around there and gives'em heck. Billy and Stoney are the two 'new' guys that were in charge of sales and production last time I talked to anyone out there. Nice to know folks on a first-name basis and a company that's interested in customer feedback, too.

I've been buying and using G&H decoys since 1966 - my brothers bought theirs in the early 60's. Back then a dozen standard specklebelly shells would run you $29.95 ($24.95 on 'special'). Just about right for my yard-mowing income. Whatever else I made went to Winchester paper Super-X Magnums 2-3/4" 4dr 1-1/2oz #4's - would naturally roll a skunk of a rice levee @ 80 yds.
