North Texas
Im headed hunting the day after Christmas to hunt 3 days in Dumas, Tx. I've never been hunting that far west to hunt. We will be goose, duck, and pheasant hunting. I know someone on here has been hunting in that area. What should I expect besides being cold?

I hunted in Dumas years ago and it was the best hunt I have ever been on by a long shot! We hunted the first of December and got snowed in for a few days and couldn't hunt. This time of year up there I would take every piece of clothing you have because it will be cold! If you are shooting an auto you will find out real quick if it will work in cold, sandy, wet conditions, snow, blazing wind, etc, etc! I would have went back the next year, but the Outfitter we used was a total "turd-cutter"!!!!!

Expect snow. Supposed to be a massive snow system moving through the area in the next couple days

Had a buddy and his father hunt near Dumas a few years ago. They limited on ducks all three days they were there plus killed a TON of geese. With the winter weather thats supposed to be there, I'd say bring plenty of shells and ask if there is room for one more!!!

Never hunted Dumas, but we hunted Lubbock a few years back and beat up on the Sandhills.
If you get a shot on one, take it. Best eating bird I've ever shot.
But make sure he is down before you send the dog, they will beat one up bad.

Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

True story!!! By far the best no joke. The first time I went to Tx hunting a guy told us to shoot em if we could that they where the best eating bird there ever was. I was thinking how? It's got to be like eating a hoody. Well much to my surprise they are awsome!!!!teul2 wrote:Never hunted Dumas, but we hunted Lubbock a few years back and beat up on the Sandhills.
