Watch it and be amazed!
They said it comes with 2 plugs: 1 for 2 3/4" and 3", another for 3.5". Now lets say you're hunting ducks with 3.5" shells using the 3.5" plug. Mr. Green Jeans comes walking up and asks to see your gun. He brings three 2 3/4" shells out of his pocket and shoves all three into your magazine. You just got a ticket.
He will check mine with whatever ammo I have on me and nothing more! The old Benelli used to be like this. Plug in it would hold 2, 23/4" or 3" shells. Plug out it would hold 2, 3.5" shells. He can do what he wants but for it to hold up in court he is gonna have to check it with the ammo that is in my possesion at the time of the check!
Except you already shot all of your short loads and dumped the hulls in the river. I have it on video.

So when this situation comes up, and I clearly have no 2 3/4 on person, am I gonna get a ticket?

I always let the hunter use the shells that were in his gun or in his bag. If he wants to be a jack about it we will go to plan b.

What's plan b? Is this the search for shells that 4dawgma has previously referenced?

Plan B is a rarely used, yet highly effective motivational tool that can't be discussed with the general public.

I've also seem an "insertion tool" made of semi-rigid tubing. They just run it up your magazine and if it goes past the mark you're in trouble.

BTW, why are 2&3/4" shells only 2.25" long and 3" only 2.5"? Is the actual measurement taken off of the uncrimped hull?

That ain't all they use it for, I hear.

I have never actually measured, but good question! Is the 2.75 actually 2.75 after it is fired?

I love my Maxus! I had the SX2 and SX3 both and was very surprised at how much more I like the Maxus. Wouldn't own anything else...

I saw a friend get a ticket from a fed for his plug. All he had was 3.5" shells, but the fed pulled out 2.75" and got 4 in the tube. Seent it wif my own two eyes.
