Well how do you know any of the other 1loss teams aren't a better opponent. Because of strength of schedule. Please. We need a play off system.BR549 wrote:Why not? While I am not excited at all about playing Bama and I really can't stand hearing how a team that lost to us at home is already in the NC game. While we still need to win our conference championship and certainly if we loose not get blown out to stay in the NC game. I think those that are in favor of a playoff game would likely agree that if they took the top 4 teams in the country when the dust cleared it would almost certainly be LSU vs BAMA.
I am for the re-match, I am just sick of hearing how they coast into the NC game loosing to us at home and our work after beating them isn't finished yet.

Re: Arkansas Fans...?
They are the two best teams but I don't think Bama should get another shot at LSU. They had a chance to play LSU (in Tuscaloosa) and could not get it done. Would rather see LSU play a one loss team from a different conference.

Re: Arkansas Fans...?
Hell Houston is still undefeated aren't they? Let us play them.
If I'm the AD at LSU and the BCS called to invite us to the NCG against Alabama I'd say no thanks... we already beat them who else ya got? or I'm still looking for a bowl game.
These Bowl games are still invitationals correct? LSU played on CBS what six times this year? That's gotta be enough money to make up for taking a pizz on playing in the NCG "rematch".
We need a playoff system bad, as proven nearly every year no exception here.

At times there is not a satisfactory substitute for well-aimed lead going down range at high velocity.

Re: Arkansas Fans...?
The problem with whatever logic you are trying to use is that LSU--along with every other school in the country-- agreed before the season started to the terms of the BCS. That formula is designed to put the 2 best teams in the BCSCG. There are no rules in the BCS that says a team has to win their conference. There are no rules that say there can not be a rematch from a game played prior in the season.iron grip wrote:

Alabama is clearly one of the top 2 teams in the country in the eyes of anyone with half a brain. The BCS ranking formula says so too. But throw Alabama out of the equation right now......what if LSU loses to Georgia this weekend? Then LSU is a one loss team. Who is to say Virginia Tech and Houston shouldnt play in the BCSCG? Well, the pundits are saying an LSU loss wouldnt matter, theyd still be in. The ranking system that would determine LSU as still the number one team after a loss is the same ranking system that is saying ALabama is the #2 team. See how that works?
And actually, the BCS gets it more right than not. You can pick out a few years where there has been a question as to who got left out or the legitimacy of who is in, but most of the time the best 2 teams end up playing. Perfect? Hardly. Do we need another system? Sure. But this is what was implemented. Complain about it in the off season. You should take the attitude of your coach and say you will play whoever they tell you to play.
Oh, and to stick to the original topic....I hear they found Bobby Petrinos panties laying somewhere outside Tiger Stadium.

Re: Arkansas Fans...?
I agree....however, if LSU were to lose and miss the BCS game, Bama most certainly should as well since LSU beat Bama in head to head competition.what if LSU loses to Georgia this weekend? Then LSU is a one loss team. Who is to say Virginia Tech and Houston shouldnt play in the BCSCG?
I think LSU v Bama for the title certainly matches the two best teams. That cannot be said for previous years, however. In 2007, it is very arguable that Georgia was the best team in the nation. They played in the Sugar versus Hawaii while LSU manhandled an overmatched Ohio State team in the BCS title game.
If Bama fans are to have any credibility in my eyes, they have to first admit that they are incredibly lucky (just like LSU in 2007). Not only are they not going to win their conference, they are not going to win their own division. Moreover, they will have an extra week to prepare for the national title game over the team that beat them at home in the later part of the regular season. They will only have to beat LSU 1 out of 2 to win the title, whereas LSU will have to win 2 of 2. Furthermore, if OSU had not crapped the bed against a horrible Iowa State team, they would be on the outside looking in. Bama is actually being rewarded for losing at home. Unreal.
It is what it is. We will see Bama in NOLA and the ultimate of bragging rights will be up for grabs. Does Bama win their 47th national title (or whatever they claim) or does LSU win their 4th? We shall see soon enough.

Re: Arkansas Fans...?
I think the tables could be turned very easily in this situation, with an LSU with one loss vs an undefeated Bama. Lets face it it wasn't far from happening like that. If they were Bama fans would be wining like the LSU fans are and the LSU fans would be saying the same thing Bama fans are. My thoughs on it... they ARE the two best teams in the country, and BOTH teams have a better resume than any other two teams in the country. As an SEC fan I'm glad we are having this argument. I think that the BCS system has probably put the two best teams in the Title Game, given LSU beats GA. But, I still favor atleast a plus one system, or a playoff system of some sort, to still include bowls.
LSU's task right now is to focus on GA and beat them.... a loss could (but maybe not) knock them out, and then all this conversation would be pointless to the Tigers.

The stars aligned just right. That is definitely luck.
However, giving us an advantage for an extra week to prepare isnt really right. Alabama won't practice for weeks. LSU gets an extra week of practice (even thought its prep for UGA). But they still get to practice. I call that a wash.
If the shoe was on the other foot, I can see the argument. I wouldnt have any problem playing for our 23rd SECC thoug either.
But dont hate the playa, hate the game.

Re: Arkansas Fans...?
Man how times have changed. Fans from the SEC only focused on winning the conference title several years ago now they seem more concerned in what others are thinking. Alabama has had the luck of the Irish in how the last few weeks have shaped up. I would say that most schools in the conference are just as proud of the conference title as they would of a BCS championship. If this is not so why does the chant at the end of the games always seem to be SEC SEC, this year will be a different story if it comes down between LSU and Alabama. Didn’t the AP poll pull out or the BCS poll and they will award a National Champion to someone this weekend before the bowl games start? You can bet one thing if Alabama beat LSU in the BCS title game 20 years form now LSU will be claiming a national tile.

Re: Arkansas Fans...?
The AP could very well give LSU the title. I see no issue with that. LSU didn't have an issue with in back in '03. Or did they?

Re: Arkansas Fans...?
Well, Thanks Bobby keep it up! I like to see a coach that will stand behind his players. It's much better than jumping around acting like a kid or trying to be a buddy to his players. During games He will get on his players, officials, who ever. That is just who he is, like it or not. And it makes me smile that outside of the Razorback fans base the latter is the case. I am sure you all don't remember, The Razorbacks took a knee at the 1 yard line last year when they had the game won against LSU. I am sure that is what was going through Petrino's mind last Friday. Whooooooooo PIG Sooooooooooiiiiiiiieeeee!! Proud Razorback and 1993 Graduate of THE U of A.Jeff wrote:Okay so I thought LSU played a pretty clean game even with my purple and gold glasses on. What was Petrino so mad about at the end of the game where he wouldn't even talk to Miles? I won't say poor sportsmanship on his part yet, as I would like to know what Arkansas is saying behind closed doors.
I hope there is some reason as if not it was pretty poor sportsmanship.

Fresh Arkansas blood. ^^^^^ Please post more.
When you say "coach that will stand behind his players," do you mean like quit, leave a note, and flee in the middle of the night?
