You won't go wrong with the cabelas euro binoculars. They are incredible.

I would get what Alec recommends. I have a pair of Leupold 10x50 and they are good, but not as good as the euro binocs.

Go with the swarovski 10x42. They are well worth the extra money, and they will be the last pair you will buy. Nothing compares.

Y'all have that right. They ran a special last year with 400-500 off at select places b/c of their Anniversary model. I see they are back at full price this year.

Proof you get what you pay for - I've been using the same pair of Zeiss 10x42 since 1990 and love them. That said, I'm a fan of the 10x42 Bushnell Excursion EX Waterproof. I met John Mullet, Bushnell's Product Director-Outdoor Accessories, a few years ago and tried a pair. Wow! They're not your dad's Bushnells that's for damned sure. Got Duncan a pair that following Christmas and they've been impressively clear, especially for the money (well under $200 if you shop online). One of the other Russell boys is getting a pair from Santa this year.

I also have a pair of Zeiss. But my BIL bought a pair of Nikon travellites for $99.00 bucks from Academy. We sat in the blind together one morning and I was really impressed by those. I mean you could tell a slight difference, but not a 600.00 difference...

I have regular old Nikon Monarch ATB's. I think they are great. A buddy has Zeiss Divaris and I can't tell $1200 difference. Way good enough for round hera.

What is you intended purpose? Out west buy some Leica ultravids...

i dont buy thing based off other peoples opinions. i listen, but mainly pick what works the best for me. but few years ago i went to bass pro shops and looked through every pair of binoculars in the case. i looked at the map that is over the front door at the small writing on the map. it blew my mind the difference in each of them. and.. to add. the best pair was NOT the most expensive pair!

once again, go with the swarovski 10x42. In three years you will not miss the money, but you will have the best glass money can buy. You can say what you want, but nothing out there compares to swarovski glass. I have an old pair of Zeiss binos that were made for the German army when the Jenna factory was producing them, and those are the only ones that get near the swarovski glass.
