Ideas on Steel Riser Boards Leaking
Ideas on Steel Riser Boards Leaking
Brand new riser with steel boards; holds 9 boards and all of them are leaking around the ends. Need some ideas on how to stop the leaking.

Rubber gasket material of proper width? Wood would swell but steel might need gaskets or foam weather stripping that starts out thick but can compress. Just throwing ideas out there! Good Luck.

Mud, wedges, or kitty litter. Please no expanding foam... Rust will kick in after while and seal the deal

Not sure if this will work for you, but works well for us. We don't use steel or wood, rather our riser boards are an extruded PCV material. The channels are about 1.75. PVC boards are 1" thick & I use a 1" rope wedged between the riser boards & the channel for a snug fit. The rope is cut a little long so when I'm ready to pull the boards, I simply grab the rope & pull, making the boards loose & easy to slide out.

mulch or saw dust. Works like a charm. We use it in the gate house at GL when we need to look at the conduit. And on our water impoundments.

Lay black Visqueen (sp?) in front and place a few blocks on it - cut it about same width as your boards - then wrap around your top board. Complete seal and very easy to remove post-season.

If you use anything but mud you are way over thinking the situation.

We got some beavers on our place that can plug up a leak in a matter of minutes. Free, all you got to do is come pick em up.
