I remember watching a video of Jeff Beck and SRV and Jeff Beck just sitting back and watching. Very few come along as good as SRV. Not really revolutionary, but just tuff as hell on a guitar.
Somebody better say David Gilmour.

That's the same way I feel about The Edge from U2.greenheadgrimreaper wrote:John Mayer is a beast, no doubt. I watch that Cortez the Killer video about once a week.
My only thing with Morello, and I know it's the same old tune (because it's true), is that he uses so many damn pedals to get his sounds. If you'll take notice, his finger movement is minimal. Don't get me wrong, he can come up with some crazy chit, but derek trucks guitar goes from amp to axe.

FYI...i love hearing new stuff and stuff that you dont normally hear or wouldnt hear without searching it out. If any of yall havent signed up with Pandora, you need to. I jam mine at the office all day, plus you can get it on a smart phone. Mine is on Warren Haynes radio right now, but it plays artist that are like the artist that you want to hear. Probably the coolest thing going in streaming music at the moment.

Champ, the only reason I didn't put Trucks is because Duane was there first. Derek Trucks is all soul for sure. Warren Haynes is tuff as well.

Its a tragedy that Jimmy Page is on the first page of this thread.
And what about the lead guitarist from Metallica?

Re: The guitar thread:
1. Warren Haynes - for all the reasons that ddm outlined. He just straight up demolishes a guitar. Best pure rock & roll guitarist alive today, hands down. To see that guy work a guitar live in concert is a thing of beauty.
2. Trey Anastasio - only because of his technical skills. He has invented his own scales. The problem with him, I think, is that he has trouble adapting to other styles of music than Phish. A great lead guitarist can add to any type/style of music.
3. Derek Trucks.
