Re-tread light truck tires
Anyone bought a set of these? I know "re-tread" has some negative initial thoughts from the old style of re-treads but i've read a lot of good things about them over the past couple of days. Just curious if we have any first hand users?

Re: Re-tread light truck tires
A guy I work with has had several sets, he only had problems with one tire and the company he bought from replaced it. Not sure where he got them but it was online.
Re: Re-tread light truck tires
My teenage son had retread blow out on I-55 100 miles from home on the hottest day of last summer. We promptly replaced those tires with a new set.
Re: Re-tread light truck tires
I saw a guy in a Z71 yesterday with the tread shredding all over the road and his tire still inflated. Think that was a retread? This is the first I've heard of that for passenger tires.

Re: Re-tread light truck tires
I have read the new re-tread tires are not like the older ones. Very dependable.. The myth of "heat destroys the tire" just doesnt hold water anymore with these new tires.
Re: Re-tread light truck tires
Ain't no way I'd put any on my ride.
Re: Re-tread light truck tires
We've ran them on our big trucks for years and many, many thousands of miles. The key is proper inflation.
The bonding agents they use now are far superior to the days of old.
I would run a set in a heart beat if I could find them. Although your mileage may very:)

If its going to blow its going to do it in the first 1000 miles. As said before we ran them on big trucks and this was my take on it. Only problem I would have is when it blows, its going to beat the $#!+ out of your ride

I think I would just spend the extra few dollars a tire and get some new ones with warranty. Blow outs are nothing to play with

what size rims do you have? i've got some new Pro Comp all terrains, 32x11.5x15 that I want to sell on the cheap. Paid $180 for them and they have <5k miles on them. they are on my 77 bronco, which is only driven on the weekends.

Re: Re-tread light truck tires
I was just looking at there website. They offer a 2 year, 24,000 mile warranty on all there tires. The prices are ridiculously cheap too. I may get a set of mud tires for hunting season. If you get a set, please let me know how they do, and how good they balance out.
