I wish you would refer 8-12 people a month to me for life insurance! Heck I'll pay you some money! Not a single agent anywhere close to here can touch my life rates! If you have your life insurance with your home and auto, you are paying too much, fyi! it might be $10 month more but do $10 x 12 months x 25 or 30 years.... it adds up! I know I had a guy with 1,000,000 in life with shelter on a 20 yr term and it was $143/month and mine was $109/month! Both standard rates! no tobacco! something to think about!

But the guy with Shelter saves 5% on ALL his autos. That can really add up also.. Just something to think about..

Hey Jelly,

Does your life coverage have riders that come with a standard policy? For example, Terminal illness rider or you have to pay extra for that?

Insurance rates will continue to go up, no matter the company. People abuse insurance to the point that it is the only way companies can stay afloat. Just because it is cheaper, does not mean it is better.

ING?? Minasota life good luck with that death claim twenty years down the road when you are not around. Life insurance is not something to cut corners on and get fooled by smoke and mirrors.

CBRADGO wrote:The greedy bastards at State Farm finally got my goat. Been a SF customer for 17 years, have my home, auto, wife's malpractice, etc. through them and got a letter in the mail this week that stated:

At the renewal date, your basic policy deductible will be increased to $1,000...

...for an additional chargea lower deductible option may be available subject to certain restricitons...

So I call my agent today, who, happens to be gone AGAIN, and talk to the lady that runs the office (literally):

"Oh yes, they are trying to get rid of all $500 deductibles and force everyone to go to $1,000 to reduce unnecessary claims volume and save money. We've had the same call all week. No, your premium won't stay the same or decrease, it's actually going to INCREASE with the new $1,000 deductible and would increase EVEN MORE if you elect to keep the $500 deductible..."

After that I blacked out. I came to when I got home and the wife cussed a blue streak about the (*&%^*&$)*& *$&suckers &*^@#*(& that run State Farm and that they can (*&@#^&*^ her )&*(@#)(*& and (*@#&%* her )(*&^*(%^...

So, I'm basically looking for a *(&@$)&@# that I can move all my *@&#)(*@#&$ to and not get *(&^(*^(*&^&*%^ in the *&^(*&^ anytime soon.

Thanks in advance...
....same situation here..same deductible hike..same explanation with that we(state farm) are the best...But I will say they(State Farm) treated me well with Katrina Damage...But I don't think people on the coast would agree with MY statement....But the next thing I started hearing after Katrina on auto damage and Home theft..was "don't claim that--it will just make your rate go up"--Question--is that really standard ...use your insurance, but you rate will go up....SO..I am looking around also...I will probably still keep it local(so I can easily look people in the eye if I have a problem)...several people mentioned Shelter on this thread, any opinions on..Farm Bureau..Alpha.. Progressive..Allstate???

We sell Progressive, Met Life, Safeco and a host of other companies for Property and Casualty insurance with very competitive rates in and around the Jackson area. We also sell very competitive life insurance with New York Life, Hartford, Purdential and others. If I can help anyone out just let me know.

I used my neighbor Jerry Leach (Allstate) in Brandon. I was with Shelter for many years and they pulled the old increase each year even though I was filing no claims. Got a much better deal from jerry and they haven't increased my rates in 3 years even though I did have to file one small claim.

Thats not Jerry or Allstate doing you right...thats your Insurance Commissioner....its coming down the pipe here shortly. This is an old article, but I think he finally approved one not to long ago.
