cry baby at mahannah this morning.

Postby medic11 » Mon Dec 27, 2010 10:41 am

Well we made the drive to mahannah from hattiesburg to hunt standby this morning, terrible luck on the draw pulled number 34 not a problem, luck of the draw I guess. The problem came in the form of a grown man crying like a child and pouting because he did not get his favorite spot. I ran into a friend I served in iraq with that was hunting solo and offered to let my group of 3 hunt with him, game warden initially had no problem with it until the grown man that was pouting began arguing and reminding the game warden that was illegal and unfair. The previously stated crybaby had a spot to hunt but it was not the spot he wanted so he decided to give the warden grief and ruin every ones day, so after reminding the man of how big of a biatchhhh he was being I thanked the game warden left mahannah and went to shoot wood ducks so the day was not a total loss....that is all just had to rant

I was there and we drew 37. The guy had a point, but certainly took it too far and did ruin the trip for you guys and possibly some others who wanted to merge groups.

I was so proud of my 22 year old son when, after reading this post said, "I would like to think that I would have given him my spot since he went over 12,000 miles and fought a war in service of our country".
Laughing is the sensation of feeling good all over and showing it principally in one spot.

Thanks Negotiator yeah all 3 guys in my party have spent 2 or more years in iraq, guess we should have drawn a lower number or gone on a day when someone didnt get their feelings hurt and taken something way too far, regardless we will be back wednesday to try our luck again

Doc - What was the problem with you joining your buddy? I thought the max number at Mahannah was 4 in a party.

Yeah the max number is 4 per party , but your not suppose to change parties after the draw, I understand why this rule is in effect but when you have 1 man hunting an area by himself and he offers to take 3 that did not get drawn I don't see a problem with that, the game warden did not have a problem with it either until one guy complained about it, warden said he couldn't legally allow it

The man's argument was that if 4 friends all went together and all signed up as single hunters, they increase their odds of being drawn by 4. More than likely one of them would be drawn and then they would all hunt one hole. The rules prohibit that for good reason. That being said, the OP was obviously not trying to beat the system as aforementioned.

As I stated in another post a few weeks ago: sounds like business as usual for public land over there. I hear more bitching about duck hunting public land than i do the democrats crying over medicaid not paying for colored contact lenses. And believe me, over here in Bama, that is a LOT of bitching! That poor bass turd making a big scene probably could have been mature and possibly gotten and invite to join another group. I certainly would let someone join me if I had room and they asked politely. Life is way too short to act like an ass. Forgive me for sounding crass, but I had 2 patients die tragically (2 seperate auto accidents) in the last week and it just puts things in perspective.

I'll add my rant while it's fresh on my mind:

I went to a spot this morning where I've been turned away on standby 4-5 times this year. I tried to find someone to go with me, but couldn't so I was solo. When I get there, I sign in and make my way to the back of the crowd. It's 8 standby groups drawing for 2 hunting slots. This guy walks in who obviously knows the two guys standing beside me and he walks up to talk to him. They find out that he showed up by himself. One of the two guys standing next to me invites the fellow that just walked in to be their 3rd hunter. The other fella next to me pipes up and says, "No wait. Go sign in, and if you get drawn we'll jump in with you. If we get drawn you jump in with us."

Now if you think by speaking up in this situation I'm some sort of cry baby, so be it. I'm not going to just sit there and take this crap, though. I told them you're not supposed to do that. If the managers find you out they'll ask you to leave, and if you go into the draw like this I'll make sure they find you out. Plain and simple. They said they didn't know that was a rule and the new guy took his name off the list, but they knew good and well that they were cheating.

Look, if I thought it was ok to show up and put all 3 guys in my group in the draw, I would do it. But I don't, and I don't.

A couple of disclaimers: First, the original poster's story is not the same as the one I just posted about. I don't have a problem with honest folks merging up after the draw. Couple weeks ago I merged with a group when my group of two didn't get drawn, and I hopped in with another group of 2 that did. My friend went home, and I'll go home next time. We couldn't have joined up prior to the draw, but we made the best of the situation afterwards. But showing up to these draws and scheming to cheat others is wrong, and I'll call it out every time I see it.

Btw, I got sent home this morning, so I'm off to deer hunt. Beats a good day at work. :D

Referring to the original story... The guy is a jerk no doubt about that there is no reason why he should've pitched a fit like he did... Allowing some groups to merge would not have hurt him in the least bit I understand that it would've called for a little rule bending but under the circumstances it would've been fine... And the guy didn't just screw some guys over he screwed over some of our very own troops who had been fighting for our nation... The guy was dead wrong... Sorry to everyone who had to suffer the consequences of his whiny mouth
