Re: Anybody shooting the new Versa Max
No specific news here, but be very leery of the first-year run of anything. Just looking back at those abominations in recent memory, the 11-87 and 105cti, I'd be even more leery of anything engineered by Big Green. Sure hope I'm wrong, though. You could buy an old invector A-5 mag-12 in fair shape for ducks and be done with it!
you did put in the plug, right?

There's none available yet! Talked to my rep last nite. They just now starting to ship a few.

Re: Anybody shooting the new Versa Max
I got to see one last Saturday at Cabella's in Fort Worth. It fit me pretty well as have most Remington's. However I couldn't buy it because it was on a hold from Remington. The salesman didn't know but I already seen on the Remington website that there's a recall on them for a hammer issue. I agree on waiting til after the first year on a new gun. Here's the link to Remington

Remington supplied a few to the guys that do the Duck Trek with ESPN every year. From what I've read so far they have all liked them.

Re: Anybody shooting the new Versa Max
Per the Remington website: MSRP $1,599
Good looking gun, I'd wait at least a year after its release to get one though. Needs some thorough consumer field testing/opinions.

Nothing from big green is worth 1600 bucks. Im not sure any shotgun is, but defiently nothing from remington. travis
Re: Anybody shooting the new Versa Max
No there have been no recalls on this gun yet. Yes there were a few minor bugs to be worked out. Remington is just that far behind. They are starting to ship a few now. They should be in the 1300 dollar range for a camo one. There will be only 3" guns available. The 3.5" concept was scrapped!

I have an 1100 I shoot from time to time far as I am concerned that will be the last auto loader I will own from Remington. They missed the boat and yes I owned a 1187 for a short period.

No 3.5"? That sucks, because their whole pitch was based on designing a gun that could cycle 3.5" magnum down to light target loads using the versa port system. There's a lot of 3" guns out there that will cycle light target loads. Nothing special about this gun IMO now. If you want a Remington auto, save $700 and get an 1187.

true. that is disappointing. $1300 dollar remmy that only shoots 3"? That is very very underwhelming.
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul

I guess I had had one to many! Put my numbers in the wrong place! There will only be 3.5" guns! The 3" in model was what was scrapped. It will be available in 4 models! 28 or 26" barrel length and black or camo. As far as the recall our rep told us don't worry only the prostaffers had any anyway. They still had to publish that though for liability reasons. Im sure there are a few slipped out! They should start showing up in the upcoming weeks.
