LSU vs. Ole Miss Thoughts and Predictions

Postby Bourbon » Mon Nov 15, 2010 2:15 pm

First of all, Geaux to Hell Ole Miss!

Now that I got that out of my system, anybody coming down for the game? We have a big tailgate and all are welcome.

I think LSU wins this one in a close game, as our offense is very up and mostly down. But I think our defense can hold the Black Bears at bay long enough for us to score some points, either on Special Teams or some lucky offensive plays.

Our strenght on offense is running the ball straight ahead with Ridley. Jefferson has looked the most comfortable at QB the last two weeks, and will get the start and most of the offensive snaps. For better or worse, i think he is the best option for the rest of the year. Lee gets happy feet and has not established himself (neither has Jefferson, but he looked more comfortable against Bama and is a better runner).

How has Masoli faired recently? Not been able to keep up as much with the Rebels, err Black Bears.

Shouldn't be too much to think about and predict in this game.

There was a time when I believed that regardless of the record, Ole Miss was gonna give LSU a run of it as it is almost always a close game...also, Houston Nutt has had great success against LSU throughout his career and he would have them ready...After this weekend...I feel like the team has quit and it won't take but one tough blow in Tiger Stadium for it all to snowball and this one not even be close.

The only way Ole Miss has a shot at making this a game is if we get some really really early and lucky breaks, like a pick 6 or fumble special teams play...probably more than one lucky break in the first quarter...that makes them forget how dissmal their season has been and gives them confidence.

I just don't see this as a normal OM/LSU knock down, drag out fight...Ole Miss is way too young, injured, and beat down by mistake ridden season. I believe their tails are tucked and it's all over in Oxford for 2010.

I hope you are right Cam, but Ole Miss and Houston Nutt seem to have some power over LSU, regardless of record and talent.

I hope that with the emotion of Senior Day, the strong defense and Tiger Stadium are enough to ward off the bad mojo, but crazier things have happened.

Last home game, then will start the hunting season.

White Shirts, Yellow Britches Go to HE!! You sons a B!%(*#S!!!! :D

With that said, I would like to think the Rebels can pull this off but I dont think so.

LSU wins this one pretty easily, this rebel team appears to have given up.

LSU has trouble scoring...as usual. Ole Miss scores a few. The difference in the game is Ole Miss O-line versus the LSU d-line, which should be a serious mismatch. I think Nevis has another great game which results in turnovers, which results in a few short fields, which allows the Tiger offense to put up just enough points to win.

27-21 Tigers...

If that is all is comes down to, then I will take it and Ole Miss might make a game of it. Only thing we do have is a chance with Masoli scrambling...so Ole Miss can get away from Nevis and the interior line of LSU, just not sure they can do anything else right. I kinda feel like Ole Miss defense will make Jordan Jefferson an instant heisman contender passing and the second coming of Warren Moon with receivers like Tolliver and Randle...I think Ole Miss can compete defensively against LSU's running game and I think Ole Miss offense can spread it out enough to score a few if they don't commit penalties, problem is we problem can't do both the whole game and anything else good enough to avoid momentum squashing us like a bug...

I'm a Rebel, I'm a rebel, I'm a rebel through and through, And I'd rather be a Rebel, than a Coon ass from lsu...

ehhh, well before this weekend i was thinking, maybe we could muster a little mojo comin from Knoxville, but now i'm hopin that we left that chity ass rebel squad there.. I am afraid our boys have thrown the towel in for 2k10... hopefully they got a little fight left in them for at least one of the 2 games remaining but as of now... i don't like our chances.

that team-27 Rebels-14

I think Camlock is right. The only chance that Ole Miss has to hang in there with LSU and make the game competitive, with a chance to pull off the upset, is for some good things to happen very early in the game. This Rebel team is mentally "fragile" right now, and not playing with confidence. If LSU comes out sharp and hits us hard in the mouth with some early big plays, then it is going to be a rout.

Masoli will have to be "on" this week for the Rebels to have any chance to make this game competitive. The concussion he sufferred in the directional LA school game caused him to miss a lot of practice time this past week. And he played poorly against UT --- I think there is a direct correlation. The fact that Nutt did not relieve him of QB duties much earlier in the UT game indicates that Stanley is not part of the equation for Ole Miss at QB next year. It also indicates that if Masoli is having a bad game against LSU, he will remain in the game until the bitter end, a knockout or TKO, whichever comes first.

I don't have a good feeling about it. But, then again, I did have a good feeling about the Auburn game, and look what happened. So, maybe its just indigestion, which I have gotten a lot this year watching my Rebs dismal performances. I am ready for this season to come to a merciful close.
