I am going to have to make the trip. Even if it is only to watch for one day. The world best retrievers will be 4 hours away... that is a must see in my book.

A new FC was made yesterday. FC Wing Magic's Standpipe Moon "Piper" aka "NutCase" won the Memphis Open, her second open win in the last 4 starts. That qualified her for the Nationals at Vicksburg. Brian Freeland and I own Piper. She is trained and handled in the opens by Mark Edwards.

I had the privilege of training Piper from a pup up to the AA level. Brian became the majority owner in her about a year and a half ago. She needed a more consistent routine than I could give her, and Mark has done a great job in providing that. A big thanks to Brian and Mark for sticking with NutCase and giving her what she needed to succeed.

Roux and Piper were my first field trial dogs. As you can probably tell, I'm very proud of them both.

If all the tests are held on the same property, it will be exit 11 off I-20 about 6 miles east of Vicksburg. Go south on Bovina Cut-Off Rd. approximately 5.5 miles. The property is on the right.

I wish I could get down there. I grew up around Bovina . One added benefit to watching the cream of the crop dawg you also get to see the cream of the crop handlers in action.....

I plan on spending as much time as possible there. I live just on the other side of the interstate. One of my best friends lives next door to the Lampkins.

Wish I could make it. I'll be deer hunting in TX.

I do have a question about the trial. How did they select the land if there is no active AKC club near this area?

Not real sure how they are gona handle the water...Lamkins dont have any big water that i know of unless he has buildt something in the last few yrs ...has lots of land but limited water.....if'n they are planning on using any neighbors water the only one that would work and its limited is the riding club up the rode....if they are gona try and pick up anything accross the paved rode they better have gun on hand and be ready for all them lakes on the other side of the road are full of lizards

I made my reservations today. Figured I might as well spend the weekend. Coming in Friday and leaving Sunday evening. Other than the imfamous Battle field Inn Bar where "Candy" hangs out, any suggestions where to go?
