How did he know that i wasn't were he wanted to hunt. I got there at two and he came strolling in at 330 and his buddies at 430 so im sorry but that is messed up...

How did he know which way you went? What is the proper parking distance? How many acres should one person be allowed? How do you know they had not scouted that area out? So many questions, I know that if I've done my scouting and know where the deer are I'm hunting there unless I know for sure someone is on that spot and the only way to know for sure is to walk in. If someone is there then I move on to scouted spot number two and so on and so forth. It's no different from duck hunting public land, you try to get your hole but if someone's in it you move on.

It is alot different from duck hunting! Deer hunting you usually get one shot at a buck...more times than not especially on public land. If that DA comes in and trapples all over my hunting area chances are im not going to see anything which is exactly what happened. Not to mention that three of them came strolling in at around 4:30 and i had been there since 2

dang right. and that is exactly why i don't park where i'm huntin. cuz dumb arses will see a truck, stop and walk in beside it cuz they think it's a "good spot"... lesson learned. haha

I agree with what you are saying for the most part however I do have a minor issue.

I haven't been to Noxubee in years, like 15 or more. Back then there were many roads that went for several miles that were gated off. Hence if you park in front of that gate you lock up 2-3 square miles of hunting ground. I have yet to see a club that gives you the right to lock down 2-3 square miles of land just because you were there first. I consider myself a very ethical person but if I saw one truck at a gate that had miles of land behind it I would go in and hunt so long as I didn't walk up on the other guy hunting. Now I could be mistaken and it's not that way anymore but if it is I personally would change my thinking on if I'm there first the whole place is all mine.

Again not trying to throw stones and disagree, if those guys knew where you were and set up anyway then that's a lack of respect and a jackleg thing to do.

Exactly my point!! I guess if you parked at a different gate on the other side of the road or down the road a couple hundred yards and someone walk's in on you then it's their fault again. It's public land and is fair game, that's why when I hunt it I try to talk and introduce myself to everybody I run into. That way maybe just maybe you'll solve a some of the problems but calling them disrespectful or booty holes isn't going to work and if you mess with my truck or any of my stuff you will not like the out come.

There was no gate it is a spot that is pretty much shut off from everthing else. There is closed area on one side of a creek and a big old grown up field on the other side of the block of woods. Pretty much one way in and out of this particular spot.

I know exactly what you mean Black-River. Some places on Noxubee it is just a given that if a truck is parked there you know exactly where that person is hunting. No, it is not anything like duck hunting Land-Man, it is just called using your head and having a little bit of hunting ethics. The Noxubee Refuge is 45,000 acres and there is no reason why you should park beside someone else's truck and risk messing them up, not to mention hurting your own chances, when you could go to upteenmillion other spots out there. You don't have to drive 5 miles away from them, but at least go down the road a few hundred yards further or something. You wouldn't like it if someone did it to you so why do it to someone else?

So it's ok if I park down the road and walk to the original spot I was going to hunt? Please explain to me how you know where someone is hunting on public land by the spot they parked at. It's already been a few people say that they don't park in the spot they are hunting, so how do you know? If I walk in on someone in a spot I was planning on hunting then I go find another spot, it's really not that hard to understand. It's part of it, getting mad and throwing a fit is only going to make things worse. I've had it happen to me a many of times and most of the time it helped me out and didn't hurt a thing.

It really doesn't matter if people park EXACTLY where they are hunting. If people would just go a mile or two or three down the road or to a completely different area there would be no chance of you walking up on somebody. It's not that hard, just called being considerate or not a d!@& head. People wouldn't have to lie about where they are hunting if other folks would stay away from them if someone else is already hunting the area. Just go back another day when you are the first one there.

So it should be one person or truck per 5 or 6 hundred acres? I would much rather be in the thicket rather than the hardwood's but that's just me. I just get tired of hearing people b itch about other people on public land. Do you honestly think that the majority of public land hunters wake up in the morning and think to themselves, let's see how many people I can screw up today. Some people just bitch for the sake of bitching or because they are not good hunters and need an excuse.

All of y'all can sit there and come up with all these different scenarios of this happened, that happened, he should have done this, he should have done that. They guy plainly
told the area he was parked WAS NOT at a GATE. It's just good hunter ethics not to park right
beside another truck and walk in. One reason, u don't know which way he went, another is u don't ever know who u will walk up on. The person u walk up in might shoot at anything that even resembles a deer.

There's NO reason u should park beside another vehicle on public land and walk in, even if that vehicle is parked right where ur HONEY HOLE is. Unless, the vehicle IS parked at a gate with land on the other side. There are plenty of other places on public land to hunt. There is no reason to get right under someone else.

It's not that hard to move 200-300 yards either direction and walk in if u just have to hunt in that area. There ain't any point in trying to make this guy look like an @$$ hole b/c he is pissed someone walked in on him. Public land is first come, first serve. If the person beat u there, oh well, go to another area.

It's not that hard to tell the people who will walk in on someone though is it?

Maybe we should leave note's with coordinates to where we are hunting that way we will know where everyone is. What if the first person to the parking spot is only a couple hundred yards off of the road and the second person at the gate is going a mile in and has to walk in that direction?

If you get mad when other people walk, park or hunt close to you then you probably need to stop hunting public land... It's called public for a reason... If I take off work and go hunting and get there 3 or 4 hours before dark and I see another truck there, I'm still going to try to slip in to the spot i've scouted, if someone is already there then I'm sorry but as long as we aren't climbing the same tree, i'm going to hunt!!!! I would expect the other hunters to do the same thing... It's part of public land hunting...

The point is, there are tons of other places to hunt on public land. It's called respect for the other hunter. Yes, it's called PUBLIC land, and yes u can walk in on someone if u want to. It's public and u can do that. The fact if the matter is to have respect for your fellow hunters. No, u don't know which side they walked on or how far in the woods they are. But it's not like there is only that one block of woods or area to hunt in public land. And public land hunters don't just scout out one spot.

If another guy beats u there, just have respect for him/her and go to another spot. Move
a couple hundred yards down the road. That one spot is not the only place where deer are. Just get there earlier next time and beat them to the spot!
