That could be the biggest rub from the south I have seen. Seen plenty like this in Illinois but none in my neck of the woods

That's true, if you see a BIG rub you can bet big antlers did it. Leonard Rue, the outdoor writer would always say that.

Here's a big rub from my old place in Hermanville. There was another one that was bigger a couple hundred yards from this one. Two of the biggest I've seen.

Seen them spikes do it to...but on them big trees the key is to look how high up the tree ....what spiked my interest is the mark up high it was eye level to me.....ck the camera yesterday ,good thing i did cause the damn cardwas full, deleted some crap for room and letting her rip.....had a red fox ,spike walking behind the rub and a 10pt from what i could tell.....there was a big 12pt,10pt and smaller 8pt caught on film last yr in this spot and are still there...will see what we get this weekend...gona slip in and up up stand and clear some shooting lanes...this place is gona be tricky to hunt but got some gooderns walking the ridge...just hope he dont go off in a bottom...aint gona be fun at all if he does...

Had a rub like that on our place several years ago.... Placed a camera on it and got pics 9 different racked bucks on that trail... Never killed or saw any of them during the daylight hours that year.

My Dad and I own some property that borders some large clear cuts and big rubs like that get used over and over throughout the years. Best I can tell they're boundary rubs or community rubs, kinda like a licking branch which is usually not too far away. The licking branch, if you ever find it shouldn't be hard if there is one around because the ground will be torn up and it acts as a staging area for the local herd, will be where you want to hunt. Pre-rut thats where the bucks go to get a feel for the does in their area. At least that works for me, I've killed a whole bunch of nice bucks over a hand full of licking branches that I've found.
