I don't duck hunt in MS much, but I thought that for the last few years it has opened the Friday after Thanksgiving Day.

I know this is not a popular opinion, but I would rather see MS open up about the second Saturday in December. We always have water early thus some ducks to shoot at Thanksgiving so this opinion is not that of someone who is jealous or angry. I do believe we would not have near the mid-season lull you witness most years though if we had a later start date. Ducks start getting shot at on arrival to MS. Would it not be a good thing to just let them build in numbers for the first few weeks? Some of you will say "go ahead and let yours set but do not dictate when I shoot mine" and that is fine, I usually do not start hunting (ducks) regularly till after Christmas. Just my opinion. Go ahead and throw gas on the fire. I know the opinion will get hammered.

A 45 day season would suit me fine.....know it would not suite most, but I would not have a problem with it. Or you could add the days on to the end :D

i'm pretty sure they just changed it last year or the year before. but it seems like the '08-'09 season it opened thanksgiving morning. either way it hasn't been changed long.

I would be happy with a 30 or 40 day season. Open on the 20th of Dec and close at the end of Jan.
