Crew cabs and Fourwheelers

Postby GearOut » Wed Aug 11, 2010 6:39 pm

does anyone know if a yamaha big bear 400 will fit in the bed of a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab 4WD SLT Short Box?

what about with a tool box? with the tail gate down?

Don't know for sure, but I use to carry my Z400 Sport-Quad in the back of my 2007 F-150 Supercrew with a toolbox and the tailgate down. I think it was a 5.5 size bed. I would think the only thing to worry about would be the cables that hold the tailgate up. Just make sure they are not overloaded or damaged. I would assume that everything would be fine though.

Get you a louisiana guard dog hitch and you will never have to worry about it getting stolen or knocking outr your back glass. Thats what we use. Buddy of mine dad built one that is alot better than the original for about 60 bucks.

Tailgate down with a louisiana guard dog attachment is your best bet.

i'm not worried about it falling out or moving. i am worried that it wont fit. period. (thats what she said) \

the bed size of these newer GMC/Chevy crew cabs just looks so small. and i dont know if i am going to get a chance to load the wheeler up in any of the trucks i am looking to buy, and not being to put my wheeler in there is a deal breaker

My Polaris 500 fits in the bed of my f-150 Supercrew (5 1/2 ft bed) with no problems. Not sure it would though if I had a toolbox back there. +1 on the LA Guard dog.

Main reason my dad only buys extended cab trucks . . . the standard bed so the tailgate will go up. I trust my LGD but he doesn't.

any short bed (6') truck will not fit an ATV with a tool box and tailgate up. It will fit an ATV with tailgate up with no toolbox though. A long bed (8') will fit an ATV with a tool box and tailgate up. The shorter short bed will be the same as the 6' short bed, except you will have more ATV on the tailgaite compared to the 6' bed truck.

It doesn't matter if its extended cab or crew cab either. A 6' or 8' bed is a 6' of 8' bed no matter the cab size. Now the newer crew cab with the shorter short bed is a difference, but you can get the crew cabs with a full 6' bed now.

What he said, Get a LGD and you can fit a bunch of stuff between the cab and atv

I have a nissan titan with 4 foot bed and my rincon fits in it. Just make sure you put a chain on it so if somebody trys to cut your straps and steal it you want lose it going down the road... had it happen last year.

Please clarify what "fits in it" means. The Rincon is 83" long, so I seriously doubt you were able to close the tailgate. And to me, if you can't close the tailgate, then it doesn't fit.

Most every ATV will fit between the inside of the fenders, but the question at hand is length and tailgate closing or not with a toolbox.

I have to take my tool box off and leave the tailgate down and still have about 2 inches left on the tailgate.

Is a trailer not an option?
I drive an extra cab long wheel base chevy so length is not an issue for me......and yes, that's what she said.
