Duck #'s
Duck #'s
Now that the season is over, what kind of totals did everyone end up with? This can be per group, pit, club, person, etc. Curious to see how wide the variety...my guess is its close to 50/50 between bad and pretty good/good. My group ended up somewhere between 450-500. Killed em in different spots and hunted hard most of the time.

Well I am just gonna say if you consider less than 200 between 10000acres and three different goups is good I had a banner year. This on a combination of land and people that normally kill 800 to 1000.
I shot more squirrels in my back yard with my BB gun than ducks. Will am lookim for somewhere new to hunt next season, for the life of me I am.

Re: Duck #'s
Between me and two buddies we killed right at 200. Hunted every weekend besides one and hunted a couple different areas. We had a great season until the "Big Freeze" left. And the ducks left with it!!
Re: Duck #'s
less than 2k acres. But in a prime location. Killed around 700. Over 350 Mallards.
Re: Duck #'s
North Delta, private land, just shy of 300.........hunted hard by a handfull of members. will be back next year, with hopefully more normal hunting conditions, either way i'll be in da woods.

206 total for the year, hunted MO and AR. My personal bag was 57 over 24 days. I posted the following on another site, the last weeekend was big for us. 4 days prodcued 93 ducks, mostly teal. Rean on if you want more detail:
Last Few Hunts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry no pics, should be coming soon. Thought I'd share how the last 4 days of the season was for our crew. All hunts were somewhere on the White River. Gotta love all this water.
Day 1--Thursday, my son and I--5 teal
Day 2--Friday, my son, brother and 3 nephews. 30 teal, 3 mallards, 1 gad, 1 widgeon, 1 shoverler for a total of 36. Snow/sleet/rain/ 15--20mph N winds--finished by 11am
Day 3--Saturday, same crew as above; 29 teal, 3 mallards, 4 shovelers for a total of 36. N wind at 20, cloudy with clearing late in the day. Finished by 3pm with the last duck taking 2 hours to kill. Attribute it to a 5 man galley watching 1 man try to shoot the last teal in a 20mph wind. He finally shot the last duck, a mallard at 3 pm.
Day 4 Sunday, last day of season. Same crew: 10 teal, 4 mallards, 1 shoveler, 1 gad for a total of 16. Picked up at 10 am with ducks still flying, almost all of which were teal.
In 4 days 93 ducks were taken, 74 of which were teal. The following are some notable things that I witnessed for the 1st time in over 40 years of duck hunting:
1. 36 ducks shot in one day
2. 36 ducks shot in 2 consecutive days
3. Uncoutable number of shotgun shells expended
4. The field we hunted was 1 mile from the boat launch and we were the only ones hunting in a very wide area. One other party was in "hearing range"
5. My first all drake limit consisting of one mallard and 5 teal
6. 2 nephews shot limits of all drake teal on the same day
7. 4 day total ducks bagged at 93 and not one was lost. Of course, we were in ankle deep water in standing beans with 2 dogs, one of which was very good (my brothers) and one that is ok (my sons)
8. The most duck I Have shot in a season (57). I realize this is a modest record compared to many of you hands, but a personal best.
9. By far, my most productive season in the great state of AR.
10. 4 teal bagged from one flock of 5. The fifth one fell but flew away. May have just landed amidst the confusion of his brethren "landing"
This was not the classic AR mallard hunt for sure, but was a lot of fun. We are normally in the timber, just couldn't find them, most likely attributed to our realtivley low level of experience in the woods. But obviously, found them in the fields.
AR undeservedly, IMO, has a combative and unfriendly reputation in the world of duck hunting. I have found that to be opposite of real world encounters. Whether on the street or in the field, the locals are friendly and helpful and usually happy of your success. We had a great time once again in your state, if you ever find yourself in the NW Alabama area, let me know.
